Adam Matthews signing confirmed

Adam Matthews Celtic newsCeltic have confirmed the signing of Cardiff City full-back Adam Matthews.

The 19-year-old has agreed a deal to join Celtic in July once his current Cardiff deal expires.

Because Celtic and Cardiff play under different football associations the Welsh club will only receive a fee of around £200,000 for developing the player.

The move is bound to outrage Cardiff boss Dave Jones who complained throughout the summer about Celtic signing Joe Ledley on a similar deal.

Matthews has made 12 appearances for Cardiff this season but hasn’t played since the January 18 FA Cup defeat from Stoke City.

The Swansea born player has been capped by Wales at u-17, u-19 and u-21 level and was an unused substitute in last season’s 3-0 win over Scotland.

Nice one. Although we have the best left-back we have had since Daniel Fergus, we are looking to the future regardless. From what I have read of this lhad, I have fairly high hopes.
