Neil Lennon: Transfer speculation is hilarious

|

Biram Kayal Celtic newsNeil Lennon has described transfer speculation surrounding his players as hilarious.

Over the last month Emilio Izaguirre has been linked to half a dozen Premiership clubs with Biram Kayal also the subject of speculation despite having made less than 20 Celtic appearances.

The signings of relative unknowns such as Izaguirre and Kayal was greeted with derision from some quarters but their recent performances have gone a long way to silencing the doubters.

Lennon told Channel 67: “I find it hilarious, when we brought these players in at the start of the season we were criticised for our signing policy.

“They said that we were signing these players for commercial reasons more than footballing reasons.

“Now the realisation has sunk in that they are actually quality footballers they want them to clear off and sell them down the road. That’s not going to happen.

“We’re trying to build a team here not take it apart. It’s flattering that there is interest but I’m not aware of it, there has been no phone calls to me or to Peter (Lawwell).

“This comes with the territory if you’re team is doing well that there will be interest from other clubs.”

Adam Matthews signing is confirmed

Nothing more than the insane ramblings of the laptop loyal trying to defend their bigoted club.

We cant have timmy with all these quality players, so we’ll give it the “we buy any player” schtick and the bears’ll lap it up.

Funny how it takes site like this one, lost bhoys & Celtic Underground to point out that the Rangers team cost more than the Celtic one before it makes it to the mainstream media, But kayal must be a donkey, so must Izzy and Hooper.

    Eh Kyle Laugherty anyone?

    In Lennon We Trust.

The way things are, we have to look longer harder and wider to get good young players – as the author says, some of our recent signings were greeted with derision from the mischief making laptop loyal and unfortunately some of our supporters swallowed their bullsh-t.

We have found some gems, our coaching staff are actually doing a little polishing and our young ghuns will imporve. Do I think we can keep them for their careers? Dunno, but if we keep them for a couple of years we’ll win trophies.

The papers can write what they (and Murray) like -despite 2 weeks of stories about the “big clubs” in the EPL “there has been no phone calls to me or to Peter (Lawwell)”. Fact.

Our best players will move on.

But it will be mainly on Celtic’s terms, there shouldn’t be any panic sales or giveaways.

Celtic currently looks a good place to be for your career- Kris Commons certainly thinks so.

It looks like we might have a scouting network worthy of the name and when the good offers come in for players it won’t be the end of the world because their replacements have either been signed or identified.

The PSV Eindhoven or Porto model is the one to follow rather than anything from the English Premiership.

    I see it’s Ki today.
Someone should run a book on whos turn it is tomorrow!
If I remember right, they had young Forrest sold a few weeks ago, so Hoops or Stokes must be in the running.
    Loovens 100-1 outsider!!
