Spartak fightback to stay on route to Dublin

|

Aiden McGeady Celtic newsAn injury time goal from Jano Ananidze secured a 3-2 win for Spartak Moscow away to Basle in the Europa League.

It looked bleak for Aiden McGeady’s side when Basel raced into a 2-0 half time lead thanks to goals from Alexander Frei and Marco Streller.

Dmitro Kombarov pulled a goal back for the visitors in the 61st minute with Artem Dzyuba equalising 9 minutes later.

In a lively match that saw eight players booked and Basel’s Xherdan Shaquiri sent off Ananidze popped up in the second minute of stoppage time to win the match for the Russians.

The winners of that match are almost certain to be away to Ajax in the next round with the Dutch side winning 3-0 away to Anderlecht tonight.

Elsewhere in the Europa League Liverpool drew 0-0 away to Sparta Prague, Braga lost 1-0 in Poland to Lech Poznan and Porto made a winning return to Seville beating Sevilla 2-1.
