SFA reduce Neil Lennon's touchline ban

|

Neil Lennon Celtic newsThe SFA have overturned their decision to ban Neil Lennon for 6 matches and cut it down to a 4 game ban.

Lennon will watch from the stand Saturday’s home match with Hamilton with the ban also covering the Co-Operative Cup Final with Rangers at Hampden on March 20.

The decision to overturn the 6 match ban is a victory for the hoops boss and a major slap in the face for the increasingly tiresome SFA President George Peat.

A wordy statement from the SFA tonight said: “The Appeals Board has tonight found that the Scottish FA’s charge of excessive misconduct against the Celtic manager, Neil Lennon, was inevitable.

“However, they set aside the original sanction of a two-match automatic suspension plus a further four matches for excessive misconduct and have imposed a new sanction of an automatic two-match suspension and an additional two matches.”

Lennon was handed the original ban on January 12 after being sent from the technical area during the November defeat from Hearts at Tynecastle.

The announcement was made by the SFA at 11.20pm with Celtic expected to respond to the decision in the morning.

The new sanction will be imposed with immediate effect.
