Why are the Dutch so good?

|

Jan Venegoor of Hesselink Celtic newsThe Dutch have an almost sickeningly good record of producing talented footballers.

Every league in Europe has Dutch players with the Eredivisie probably the most scouted league on the continent.

Ajax’s academy is the blueprint for clubs around the world to copy with Tommy Burns spending time in the Dutch capital studying the Ajax ways during his time as manager of Celtic.

Of course they have also produced Bert Konterman and Fernando Ricksen but overall it’s difficult to criticise a nation that has given the game Johan Cruyff, Ruud Gullit and Denis Bergamp.

Discovering the Dutch secret has proved elusive in Scotland but some skills just can’t be coached as the video below illustrates.

Video footage of Tiger Woods as a toddler is regularly shown, perhaps the two year old above could be the next Pierre van Hooijdonk or Jan Venegoor of Hesselink!
