After borrowing and rewording The Fields of Athenrye Liverpool have again turned to Celtic to promote their ‘fan culture’.
The marketing people at Anfield don’t have to look too far for inspiration as the club launch a ‘Just Can’t Get Enough’ range of t-shirts which is apparently all about Luis Suarez!.
Numerous English clubs have picked up on the sing made famous by the Green Brigade who made it their signature tune at the start of the season sparking a fresh wave of interest in Depeche Mode.
Celtic’s 3-0 win over Rangers in February brough JCGE to an international audience with the Sky Sports cameras picking up the singing coming from 111. That game was also the first time that the ‘reverse-huddle’ was seen at Celtic Park.
I wonder if Liverpool or anyone else will copy-cat Celtic striking new look international kit?
For ten years Liverpool fans have been singing about Heighway on the wing but as yet no one has been able to locate exactly where the fields of Anfield Road are located.
The JCGE t-shirt can be bought from Liverpool for only £14.99. What’s next on the hit list of those cheeky scousers? Will it be the Brother Walfrid statue or Bairds Bar that they have their eyes on for their next swoop?.

You sum things up rather well Chris.
Hey Joe, you must’ve been aware of the fact you ‘forgot’ to mention You’ll Never Walk Alone. Was this to create a debate or was it meant a bit tongue-in-cheek? Either way, good work …. oh, by the way i’m feeling a bit silly now for asking in the 1st place 😉
I think it’s cool that there’s a bit of give and take between the teams tunes. I was at that 89 game (I was 13) and ever since have had a soft spot for Liverpool, so happy to see some cross over.
Just a bit small-time isn’t it really?
“You stole this off us!!”
I’m not a Liverpool fan but the whole notion of “we had this song first” is embarrassing.
Grow up.
if you’d ever heard the old kop roar
when liddell got the ball
you would not talk of any song
it was the daddy of them all.
1 love 8)
Did nobody stop to think that it’s just a bit of banter and he’s only winding pool fans up with writing this article??
^ this is a different chris btw
how can it be celtics song louis suarez plays for liverpool ?
a liverpool guy invented the goal net and every f—– copied that – so there, anyway you can steal here we go hoop de hoop from me.
hmmmm, where could the fields of anfield road be???
Clearly some people should take a moment and think before they speak.
Dis realy a huge banter.YNWA,JCGE! Wot a big banter
I’m a Celtic supporter here. Just to say to all the Liverpool supporters who have said that we “pinched” their song, it wasn’t actually their’s. Man Utd started to sing it first although it didn’t come to much. Oh, and JCGE in football will always be remembered as Celtic supporters who brought it in… and the Huddle.
An urban myth created originating from somewhere in Surrey
Heh
The cockney massive at it again.
as a scouser born and bred norris green and a roman catholic i had to be a celtic fan and i choose to be a liverpool fan Y.N.W.A. has been sung by both fans for over 45 years but the fields is celtic’s and the dubliners are celtic fans but the wolftones sing it as well and when liverpool sung it at ibrox the huns booed it winds them up but celtic sing Y.N.W.A. better cos the P.A. at anfield plays it so liverpool sing along with it were as celtic used it for 30 secs.then kill the song and the whole ground sings it but we both sing the same songs and to all celtic fans i am sorry for some huns that support liverpool that try and wind you up tiochfaidh ar la and some celtic fans who like the mancs try to wind us scouser up but 1 would for the mancs messi and mash you might be better thought ov if you win and dedicate it to liverpool
Glory, glory man utd,,,glory, glory man utd,,,only kidding by the way cant stand man utd,,,who cares who sings what come on the red’s,,,,,,although celtic fans version of YNWA is superior lol lol
Hail hail
All friendly banter I hope and its good to see plenty of Reds on the site. We can steal or borrow each others songs all day long, but STAY AWAY from our players !!!!!
I just hope the Liverpool support dont steal any rangers songs, the english FA wont tolerate racist and bigoted songs, Liverpool FC would be closed down within 2 months.
Oh the ironing Joe. I’m sure Paul McBride is on the case to those nasty scousers over copyright.
yous may have sung Y.N.W.A first but the famous glasgow CELTIC sing it best.HAIL HAIL in lennon we trust
Wasn’t it Edinburgh Hibernians who started everything?
Strange how no one else has copied ‘Sunshine on Leith’ or ‘There’s Only One Colin Nish’
Come on bhoys and ghirls!! We sing YNWA which is pretty ironic if some of my fellow Celtic fans don’t want to share songs.
Celtic and LiverpOOl you’ll never walk alone, just can’t get enough
Every set of fans take certain songs to suit thats what we have done to yours. The biggest song theft ever was YNWA which Celtic fans took oh n did yous change the words? Naw ye didnay so dont be a hypocrit ya muppet! YNWA anyone???
as frankie said ,,,,RELAX,,,,:D
Hail hail
The reason its so noticeable and as you call it “the biggest song theft ever” is that Celtic supporters do it so well, thats why its such a stand out case.
We are both good set of football families
Many times we have united in grief.
So now we see two icons BRINGING THE THUNDER BACK TO OUR HOME
Who care’s who sung what first i watch King Kenny as a boy
I had celtic 7 dalglish and a liverpool 7 dalglish shirt
People should support theit team and stop messing in others….rant over
We both will never walk alone because both fans
Just cant get enough
