Young Celts lose out in final of Hong Kong Sevens

Local side Kitchee proved too strong for Celtic winning the final of the Hong Kong International Sevens 1-0.

A second half goal from Spanish striker Roberto Lasada separated the sides bringing the curtain down on an epic season for the Celtic kids.

To reach the final Celtic had defeated Aston Villa and Ajax after finishing runners up to Liverpool in Saturday’s group phase.

In the last eight clash with holders Aston Villa keeper Nick Feely the hero saving three penalties in the shoot-out with Marcus Fraser scoring the golden goal in extra time against Ajax to take Celtic into the final against Kitchee who defeated Liverpool in the other semi final.

    Considering Villa had players born in 88 & 89 with the youngest in #92 we were giving them a huge advantage so full credit to the young guns.

    Alas the Hong Kong side in the final were I understand more in the 20-25 age group which proved too much…but great experience for all involved.
