Peter Lawwell Celtic newsIsraeli striker Omer Damari has signed for Hapoel Tel Aviv for an undisclosed fee.

Damari’s representatives had talks with Celtic in midweek about a transfer but interest in the player cooled after details of the ‘deal’ were made public in the midst of negotiations.

“We have agreed everything with Celtic,” claimed Petach Tikva president Amos Luzon. “But the player is still to agree personal terms with the club. Next week, I believe the deal can be completed.”

Tikva claimed that a £2m fee had been agreed with Tikva also due 30% of any future transfer fee with claims that the player would soon be sold for £10m minimum!

Celtic’s interest cooled significantly after that and within 48 hours Tikva had agreed a deal with Hapoel having previously claimed that they didn’t want to transfer Damari to a domestic rival.

After signing for Hapoel Damari said: “It’s a club I’d dreamed about playing it since I was a kid. I thank Tabib and Kasten (Hapoel coaches) wanted me and brought me.

“There were some difficulties, there were negotiations with Celtic that didn’t work out. I am looking forward to playing under the coaches here and hope that we can have a good season.”

The speed with which the Hapoel deal was completed suggests that talks with Celtic were intended to speed the transfer through.

Either he was good enough to sign or he wasn’t. Why spit the dummy because his managers got a big mouth?

Just an excuse for the board not to spend any money, possibly.

  • paranoia'sfordummies says:

get a grip man,he’s a nobody, that none of us had heard of til a couple of weeks ago, pick yer dummy back up and start sucking, jesus, season’s not even started and kid on fans like you are moaning,i’ll trust the board and Lenny to get the right signings, try and be a real supporter!!,what next phoning radio snide and giving Keevins a chance to be negative as per usual, yer a joke

  • green brigade says:

if you watch the youtube video of him, he looks ordinary. If you watch the defending of those around him they look amateurs. Not forgetting the fact he hardly scores, series of clips of sideway passes & shooting past post for most of the 15 minutes it lasts. He looked pretty ordinary

  • paranoidandroid says:

So you think the board have done good job over the last three years and beyond. There’s no contradiction between being a good supporter and questioning the board- how many of them are real supporters anyway ? Tory funding millionaires who probably dont even like football.

    • paranoia'sfordummies says:

dear oh dear ,wind yer neck in,thats why yer dummy keeps falling out.the board can always be questioned, but its not the boards fault that we have let the teds win the last three, for the most part they supported the managers with good money, and those managers including Lenny got it wrong, just remember tha sainted one blew two titles as well,no doubt you you blamed the board then as well, you cant win them all, blaming the board all the time is pathetic, accept sometimes we’re just not good enough.

      • OldRossCo says:

Why are you getting so angry all the time? Your opinion is only more important than everyone else’s to you. Celtic missed out on Fletcher when we needed him out of principle so the board are not above ‘frugality’ and should be aware that they are being monitored. And before you start on me, I know…..’Something about dummies’……Nice one!!!

        • paranoia'sfordummies says:

good grief, another one,are you seriously blamimg the loss of the league on the board not signing Fletcher!! really?,the board backed mowbray with Keane,we still didnt win the league,we do not have a god given right to win the title every year, and blamimhg the board every time we dont is ridiculous, this board have got plenty right,if your old enough to have been thru the80’s/90’s thats a poor board, the seasons not started yet and people are winging about the lack of activity/parsimony of the board, get a grip, get real, support the club(not just the team) thru thick and thin

  • robert hail hail says:

right lads, lets all stick together,as Neil Lennon said this is just the beginning, one thing that struck me about last season, was there was a togetherness.

We have not seen since Martin O’Neill’s time, so lets trust the board and management, to help put us back were we belong,,,at the top,,hail hail
