Mario Balotelli’s colourful Manchester City career hit a new low yesterday after a showboating stunt against LA Galaxy went horribly wrong.
Any hopes that the Italian striker may be ready to start a new leaf in his City career were dashed as he clashed with City boss Roberto Mancini after an OTT attempt to back-heel the ball into the net ended in cheers of derision from the LA fans.
No doubt inspired by video clips of Awana Diab’s penalty scored with his back-heel the City strikers effort trundled past the post and immediately saw Mancini substitute the sinning striker.
After last season’s farcical attempts to put on a bib and various run-ins with the authorities over parking tickets it looks like it’s going to be another season of the unexpected for Balotelli watchers everywhere.
