Daryl Murphy Celtic news Striker Daryl Murphy has rejoined Ipswich Town on a season long loan deal from Celtic.

Murphy went on loan to Ipswich from Sunderland in 2010 before signing for Celtic last summer in a £1m deal from the Black Cats.

The 27-year-old has never been able to hold down a regular place at Celtic and was omitted from Neil Lennon’s 25 man squad for the Europa League ties with Sion.

Discussing the move Murphy told the Ipswich website: “It came out of the blue really, I had a call from my agent last night to say Ipswich were interested and it was a no brainer for me really.

“I know the Club and the area from my time here before. Some of the lads that were at the Club then are still here and I know Michael Chopra from our time at Sunderland.

“I’m looking forward to playing for the Club again and we will see how it goes from there. If I do well and the manager wants to extend my stay beyond the year then I certainly would be interested but for now all I want is to concentrate on is playing games.”

Best of luck to the big man.

Gone – hopefully for good & forgotten….absolutely no idea what Lennon ever saw in the big lump of wood. We all have our own strengths, so next time Lennon leave it to your scouts to select possible targets. Hope he is huge success at Ipswich and we can maybe get some of our money back…but I doubt it.

Well he could do something the rest of the squad couldnae – score from a penalty!!

How difficult is it to sell players? Every year – rasmussen, hooiveld, thompson, odea, mcgowan, – They go out on loan. Can they not get money for them?

This is O’dea’s 3 season in a row out on loan.

  • Stephen says:

Towell away out on loan again as well! There’s about 15 players at the club not in the managers plans and we can’t sell them. Who gave them the fat contracts they’re on that means they can’t be sold?
