Paul George Celtic newsCeltic’s u-19 side are in action away to Aberdeen today with a 1.30pm kick-off at Balgownie Playing Fields, Aberdeen University.

Wednesday night’s home match with Barcelona is likely to attract 20,000 fans to Celtic Park but there is likely to be 19,000 less than that today as SPL business continues.

Last week’s impressive 2-0 win over Dunfermline saw Paul George, Callum McGregor and Filip Twardzik included in the Development squad that won 1-0 away to Blackpool with George scoring the only goal of the game.

Everyone at Celtic is looking forward to the visit of Barcelona in midweek but Kennedy has ensured that his side are looking no further than the road north to Aberdeen.

“We’ve only mentioned Barcelona once this week to the players,” the coach explained. “The focus has to be on the next game and that’s Aberdeen. After that we can talk about Barcelona with them.

“We’ve had a good week and it helps when a few of them were involved in the match at Blackpool and Paul got his goal.

“Aberdeen will be a good test for us and there’s a lot of competition in our squad which is healthy.

“There was a few changes in the team against Dunfermline last week, we’ve analysed that performance and it was good to look back on a lot of the things that we did in that match.

“We’ll take that into the match today and are looking forward to the game. At this level the start of the season can be unpredictable with a lot of young professionals but we’ve been happy so far.”
