Sion newsUEFA have given their full backing to President Michel Platini in the long running battle with Sion.

Christian Constantin wants to see Platini jailed by the Swiss courts after Sion were kicked out of the Europa League for fielding five ineligible players in the qualifiers against Celtic.

UEFA have been in congress in Cyprus and delivered unanimous backing for Platini’s stance against Sion.

The UEFA statement read: “The 53 UEFA member national associations have today unanimously declared their support for UEFA President Michel Platini, the UEFA Executive Committee, the UEFA General Secretary, the UEFA disciplinary bodies and the UEFA administration for their determination to uphold the statutes and regulations of football.

“The European national associations call upon both FIFA and the Swiss Football Association (SFV-ASF) to urgently take concrete steps to uphold the statutes and regulations of FIFA, as UEFA has done.

“The independent sports justice system is the best guarantor of equality and fairness for all participants in sports.

“The European national associations declare that any member of the football family who refuses to accept the rules of the competition should not participate in it.”

Okay, different Joe,but I have some input!
The Swiss FA have condemned Constantin, all except one of the individual clubs in Switzerland have condemned him, FIFA have condemned him, everyone for fairness in sports have condemned him, but still, he is allowed to drag the name of his club through the mud and make comments which are akin to those we came to expect from walter smith last season! This guy, like walter, has a big mouth, is placing his club in jeopardy, the Swiss FA and all of its members in jeopardy, endangering the way ahead for all UEFA affiliated clubs by expecting to have one set of rules for them and another for the rest of us, and basically, being the rangers of Switzerland, by expecting preferential treatment regarding what they can get away with. I’m sure internally, the Sion board are seething at the idiot. They beat us on the park, but cheated in the process. Would they have beaten us without cheating? Probably, because we were poor against them. Mouthing like the idiot he is is a smokescreen from him because he knows he cheated and as a result, he personally robbed his club of the chance of UEFA League football this season. I really suspect that he will be sacked by Sion very soon, but they will call it a parting of ways “by mutual consent”, or he will claim he leaves in disgust at UEFA and call them all the cheats etc stating they had it in for him and every other excuse except, “hey, I made a mess of things by cheating and being caught doing it”.
UEFA should now bring him personally to task, show him that regardless of his money, he has to follow the same rules as everyone else. His personal attacks should cost him personally too. I bet that he will not still be president of Sion this Christmas.
