Tony Watt Celtic newsTony Watt was on the scoresheet today as Scotland’s u-19 side beat Wales 3-1.

The Celtic striker started the match on the bench but found the net 11 minutes after replacing Leighton McIntosh to seal the points for Billy Stark’s side.

Twelve months ago the Coatbridge bhoy was playing part-time with Airdrie but already this season has netted against Barcelona in the Next Gen Series and forced his way into the Scotland squad.

After the match he tweeted: “Scored for scotland u19s today vs Wales with a chip! First national goal in style delighted.”

Wales had taken the lead through Jake Cassidy in the 15th minute but McIntosh levelled the scores eight minutes from the interval.

Dave Smith and Watt scored in the second half to lift Scotland onto three points having lost their opener 2-1 to hosts Slovenia.

Scotland have to win against Belgium on Monday to progress to the next phase after the Belgians drew 0-0 with Slovenia leaving both nations on four points.

Marcus Fraser and Jackson Irvine started the match with Callum McGregor an unused substitute.
