Frank McGarvey Celtic newsGeorgios Samaras’ agent has threatened to sue Frank McGarvey and warned the striker’s critics to ease off.

McGarvey delivered a scathing attack on the Celtic striker’s display at Ibrox with Dr Gregory Ioannidis, Samaras’ agent, furious that his client’s performance was described as disgraceful.

Ioannidis turned to twitter to defend the striker claiming that Samaras won every aerial battle and went on to pin the blame for the Ibrox defeat on Samaras’ defensive team mates.

I am sick and tired of idiots singling out Sammy for the failures of the club,” the agent warned. “Caution must be applied now or legal consequences will follow.

“To single out a striker when your defence leaked four goals is to say the least amusing. Football is a team sport, you do not blame individuals.

“When you score 2 goals at Ibrox and still lose the game, there is obviously a problem with your defence and midfield, not the strikers

“I expect Celtic to condemn the unfair criticism against Sammy. They had eleven players and I recall one winning all aerial battles.”

Turning his anger to McGarvey Ioannidis: “Seems Mr McGarvey was watching a different game. I am sure the game has changed since he played for Celtic. Was he told to say these things?”

“When a public person uses the term ‘disgraceful’, he must be able to defend and justify its necessity.

I welcome all civil comments from Celtic fans.Just despise unjustified public statements from well known people which I find unecessary.”

Sorry, but I have to agree Sammys time has come, hes had chance after chance but still does not really have the ability faith or guts to wear the hoops. “The Celtic Jersey does not shrink to fit inferior players” never ever a truer phrase spoken by a legend Big Jock. So tell me why is it happening of the players out thier on Sunday none would have been picked by Jock…..maybe Broonie hail hail

Let’s face it, Georgie isn’t good enough, but I also think he really loves Celtic, I don’t think he’s here for an easy ride; it’s just that he can’t do whatever Neil thinks he can do. I would walk over broken glass to play for Celtic, but if I did you would all say the same about me. You can’t blame him for playing every time he’s picked, but you can blame the people who pick him. It’s not a crime to be not good enough! The agent’s got a point; we were crap, front, middle and back. When will Lennie learn that footballers who can score goals win games, brawn doesn’t.
I still think that there is some stubborness there’ like ”I pick this team; not you lot or the press!”

Anyone remember Sammy’s first half performance for Greece against Argentina in last world cup? Best player on the park – Messi included. So it isn’t that he hasn’t got the talent – something’s wrong tho 🙁

Samaras is absolutely useless, to think we actually pay is a joke. We all gave up on him months ago. I agree that Samaras wasn’t to blame for the 4-2 defeat, Lennon has to take the blame as he picked him, however Samaras is nowhere near good enough to be near a Celtic jersey. The fact is, wether he has ability or not, he is the most inconsistant performer Celtic have ever had, and look at why we lost the last 3 leagues.. Rangers might not be fancy but they have consistancy, and that’s what separates us and them at the moment. If we keep playing Samaras, we may as well sit back and watch another 9 in a row..
