Mick McCarthy Wolves newsWolves boss Mick McCarthy has described a section of the clubs fans’ as mindless idiots.

The former Celtic centre half was abused by a section of the crowd during Saturday’s draw with Swansea after Wolves went 2-0 down to the newly promoted side.

McCarthy avoided the after match press conference but broke his silence ahead of tonight’s Carling Cup tie at home to Manchester City.

With chants of ‘You’re getting sacked in the Morning’ and ‘You don’t know what you’re doing’ ringing in his ears the Wolves boss tackled his critics head on

“Let’s not give any credit to the mindless idiots that do it, whether it’s at me or Karl Henry or Andy Keogh or Stephen Ward,” McCarthy said.

“Do not give them any credence for getting us playing well or getting a result. They don’t deserve any. I’m taking the credit. I got Jamie O’Hara further up the pitch and made the substitutions.

“The players are all with me and I’m with them. Don’t anyone think anything different. They are great characters who never give up, and hopefully I give them a lead.

“We’ve got a great spirit among us, but I always worry that I’m giving them (his critics) some sort of back-handed compliment.

“All they do is destroy. It is destructive and no good to me or anyone else. I almost think some turn up hoping it is going to be that way, so they can have their whinge and get shot of the manager.

“They are not going to get shot of the chairman or the players, so let’s give it to the gaffer. I’ve done a great job here. Five years ago, we had a million quid and 10 players. Now we are building the new stadium but we are having a tough time.”

He added: “All my toys, my rattle and dummy, are back in the pram. I’m entitled to have a chew sometimes. Saturday was one of those days.

“Hey-ho, I’m fine now. There were lots of dissenting voices but I understand what my job entails and I was over it by Sunday morning and ready for the fight ahead. I crack on.”

You’ve got to love big Mick. He’s brilliant with the media. His complaint could be applicable to the Blackburn fans as well, some of them are shameful too.

I’ve no time for any fans who cry for a manager to get sacked with personal attacks at a game, the diddy’s in our support who did so with Gordon Strachan a few weeks before he won the league were the same, embarrassing.
