The task facing Celtic on Thursday night when they travel to Udinese can’t be underestimated.
Neil Lennon’s side need a win to progress into the last 32 of the Europa League but to do so they must get the better of the side that are sitting at the top of Serie A with Juventus on 30 points after 14 matches.
Home form has been the basis of Udinese’ success with Sunday’s 2-1 win over Chievo their TENTH successive home win of the season since losing a Champions League play off to Arsenal.
The goals of Toto di Natale have been important to Udinese’ success but the emphasis at the club is very much on the team after losing three key players in the close season including striker Alexis Sanchez to Barcelona for £23m.
“Right now I’m a coach happy,” coach Franco Guidolin said after the Chievo win. “I’m happy to lead a group of guys who are keeping alive a magical moment at the Friuli (Udinese Stadium).
“We are stronger than last year, having sold three important pieces that is amazing for me.
“We aspire to be successful in Europe and also in the championship but we must bear in mind that we are Udinese and so far it has been a wonderful season.”
