Joe Chalmers and Patrik Twardzik scored the goals as Celtic beat the USA u-19 side 2-0 at the Mercedes Benz Cup.
Both goals came in the opening four minutes of the match with Robbie Thomson rarely troubled as Celtic adapted to the indoor event.
After a difficult day yesterday when they lost three matches John Kennedy’s side have now beaten Vfb Stuttgart and the USA as well as drawing with Lechia Gdansk.
The format of the tournament remains something of a mystery with Celtic having played every team in the event except Mainz 05.
It seems that the win over the USA has earned Celtic seventh place with the final to be contested between Freiburg and Hamburg who topped Group B ahead of Celtic and Lazio.

Definitely a strange format as Stuttgart finished 2nd in their opening group only by goal difference.
3rd / 4th is between Stuttgart & Freiburg
Final Mainz v Hamburg
Now we really should have beaten Hamburg having taken the lead, certainly shouldn’t have let it slip completely. Shows the importance of preparation though. At least we were able to show a bit more in our later games.
