Craig Whyte Rangers tax case

HMRC have rubbished claims from discredited Rangers owner Craig Whyte that his club are being singled out for special treatment.

Whyte’s latest outburst came yesterday afternoon when he made a number of accusations while admitting that he had used a loan from Ticketus to buy the club and pay off the £18m debt to Lloyds TSB.

That information was freely available on various message-boards and blogs as early as last June but was denied by Whyte until yesterday.

Despite having his reputation trashed since the turn of the year Whyte accused HMRC of trying to make an example out of Rangers.

Today a spokesman for HMRC said: “We can’t discuss specific cases for legal reasons, but tax that has been deducted at source from the wages of players and support staff, such as ground keepers and physios, must be paid over to HMRC.

Any business that fails to meet that basic legal requirement puts the survival of the business at risk.”

The statement added: “Any business that regards paying tax as an optional extra after other expenses are met, or that uses tax collected from employees or customers as working capital, is potentially heading for trouble.

There is little HMRC can do for a business – be it a football club or not – whose viability is dependent either on not paying the UK taxes to which they are liable, or on special treatment not available to other customers with similar tax affairs.”

My main concern is….Whyte is fast becoming the only villain of the piece and is being hung out to dry.
I’ve obviously no problem with that, although I would prefer he stayed on and continued to run Rankers.(For the good of Scottish football you’ll understand).
Seriously….It’s a given that he’s not Fit for Purpose and will be dealt with in due time.
However…ANYONE ELSE who has had an historic involvement in EBT’s or any other potential rule-bending , whilst associated with this Club, has to be exposed and, if applicable, be charged accordingly.
Say for instance , the Governing body of football in Scotland was “examining” potential wrong doings at Rankers , and also realised that a very senior member of their organisation was involved with this Club during these periods .
It would be automatically assumed that this person’s position would be untenable..and he would have to step down….would it not ?

Lets hope the SFA have learned by their honest mistakes concerning the last takeover at Ipox

Former director Dave King was seen leaving Ipox with Fat Sally today. Nice one, getting their act together I see.

King who faces 322 criminal charges in South Africa, which includ tax dodging, racketeering, extortion, and money laundering hanging over his head.

A judge speaking on King stated ” he has no respect for the truth, and does not hesitate to lie if he thinks it will be to his advantage. He is a mendacious witness whose evidence should not be accepted on any issue unless it is supported by objective evidence.

In our assessment, he is a glib and a shameless liar”.

He fits the bill, and has all the right credentals to be the new owner at Ipox.

    Hail Hail

I picked the crux of this up from a previous poster and put a little meat on the bones to wind up the bluenose`s i work with.thought i`d share it . IN 1997 four highly private but very wealthy members of opuis dei held a meeting in an exculsive hotel in edinburgh.at that meeting they discussed the best way to remove the biggest obsticale to scottish independance.so began operation `TURNSTILE` 6 members would gain positions of influance in HMRC. and a further 7 would infiltrate goverment and national sporting bodies.the aim to eradicate the last barriers preventing papel reasertion in scotland. MISSON ACCOMPLISHED. dont belive me it makes more sense than craig whyte being a BILLIONAIRE.
