Terry Butcher has taken to the streets of Inverness posing as an ice cream seller ahead of Caley Thistle’s match with Rangers!

As Rangers deal with a daily drip of bad news since going into administration Celtic fans have gone into overdrive as they riddicule the problems of their rivals.

The chant of ‘Having a party when Rangers die’ has developed into ‘Jelly and Ice Cream when Rangers die’ amongst others.

Some Celtic fans have even taken large plastic ice cream cones to matches and worn t-shirts with the jelly and ice cream slogan.

Butcher’s ice cream run was to promote a competition where Caley Thistle supporters can win a trip to Italy to visit the Errea factory that manufactures the club strip before watching Parma in Serie A action.

However the timing of the pictures isn’t likely to endear him to Rangers fans who once idolised him.

Butcher was at Motherwell when the club went into administration in 2002 and knows exactly what Rangers are going through just now.

“As much as I have great sympathy for Rangers, there is a time and a place for it,” the Caley Thistle boss stated.

“We won’t have any sympathy during the game. Before and after it we will. Nobody would have sympathy for us if we were in the same position.

“We have our own agenda and we just want to go out and enjoy the day.

“The chance is there for us. We have yet to pick up a point against the Old Firm this season and this is an opportunity to do so.

“What Rangers do doesn’t really interest me. We just want to try and win the game.”
