St Mirren newsThe St Mirren board has been split by the involvement of controversial Rangers lawyer Gary Withey in a takeover bid.

Saints chairman Stewart Gilmour has asked director Ken McGeough to resign or be forced off at an EGM after allowing Withney and legal firm Collyer Bristow to see confidential information about the clubs’ finances.

McGeough has insisted that his bid isn’t linked in any way to Rangers but that hasn’t cut any ice with his fellow directors who want him off the Paisley board.

“Gary Withey attended a meeting in the St Mirren boardroom on November 25 as part of our prospective bid,” McGeough explained.

“It was a preliminary meeting before appointing Collyer Bristow as our legal representative.

“All business has been conducted with full transparency to all current directors, including seeking approval for the meeting with Gary Withey.

“As a lifelong fan I’m very disappointed by the sustained campaign to discredit my bid and remove me from the board.

“The main objective has always been to secure the club’s future but it’s clear the current board believe it should be taken in a different direction.

“Under the circumstances I would be prepared to walk away from the club I rescued alongside Roger Lucas.

“I confirm I will no longer require to be a shareholder and these shares are available for the board and R Atkinson to purchase.”

Bet Chick Young was licking his lips at the prospect of his real team and his pretend team becoming one and the same!

St Rangers? Two of Europes biggest clubs uniting in an attempt to crush Celtic, we are quaking in our boots. Selling Ibrokes & moving to Paisley?
Wee chick has become one of Rankers most hated people so he’ll not be allowed into the ground. For years cheeky Chic has being trying to stay on everyones side but we’ve always seen him for what he was & now even the tax dodgers have worked out his plan.

And this is one of the 10 clubs who excluded Celtic from their meeting but was willing to talk to Rangers. Scottish football is a shambles.
