|

Filip and Patrik Twardzik Twardzik Celtic newsCeltic’s u-19 side took control of the title race today with a 4-1 win over Kilmarnock while Hearts lost 3-1 away to St Johnstone.

Those results leave John Kennedy’s side trailing the Edinburgh club by four points but with two games in hand.

If Celtic can beat Motherwell on Tuesday it will bring the deficit down to a single point with five games left to play.

Celtic were never in any danger of dropping points as they faced upto Kilmarnock for the third time this season.

A trip on Tony Watt after 22 minutes presented Filip Twardzik with a penalty which he confidently slotted home.

Marcus Fraser saw a header hit the bar from a Callum McGregor corner before the Twardzik brothers combined in the 35th minute with Patrik slotting home from 15 yards out to double Celtic’s advantage.

John Herron was next to strike the woodwork with a 20 yard effort coming back off the crossbar just before half time.

On the hour mark Liam Gormley and Paul George replaced Watt and Herron with the former Motherwell striker finding the net from a Callum McGregor cut back in the 75th minute.

Killie did pull a goal back with ten minutes left to play but McGregor restored Celtic’s three goal advantage in the dying minutes when he slotted home the rebound from a Denny Johnstone shot.

All to play for now….Motherwell & 2 x games v Rangers so a tough run in but we are certainly well capable of winning all our games.

Great to see Paul George back in action again too.

Would be fabulous if the young guns can lift all the silverware and set the standard for the main team.
