Ally McCoist Rangers newsRangers completed their home campaign with a goal-less draw against Motherwell with Ally McCoist unable to give any reassurance for the future.

Despite finishing the season trophy-less McCoist led the players on a lap of honour at the end of the match.

The Rangers boss looked very emotional during the lap of honour and is expected to fly stateside in midweek to meet prospective owner Bill Miller.

“I’ll probably try and give Bill Miller a call later on this evening,” McCoist admitted before discussing Monday’s vote on the SPL welcoming in a newco Rangers.

“I can understand that the SPL and SFA have got big decisions to make and that they won’t please everybody.

“I do believe that there would be a threat to some other clubs (if Rangers were relegated to Division 3) but in terms of the finances of Scottish football it’s massive issue.

“The right thing to do might be the wrong thing in the long run. It’s a big problem.”

Rangers cut Celtic’s lead down to 20 points by drawing with Motherwell but two wins in their final matches will see Neil Lennon’s side take the title by at least 23 points.

I don’t think the SPL clubs CAN make any decision, if they do then they will face being even more red-faced when the dual contracts debacle is resolved.

This nonsense being spouted about the financial implications if Rangers FC (In Administration) are demoted to the 3rd division. This is 100% based on the current state of Rangers FC (In Administration)
NOT the side they will be able to field next season.

Only a complete idiot will think the players will stay when they can cash in BIG TIME as free agents, better wages elsewhere. Will the same supporters stay loyal to a struggling side with mostly / or only kids….history says NO. So the financial impact is already greatly reduced.

Then take into consideration that many loyal fans of these clubs will see cheating being rewarded / ignored by THEIR clubs…Will we see a reaction from the fans – most assuredly, I’d expect a MINIMUM of 5% (Probably 10%+) to vote with their feet and not return….this would greatly cancel out any finance Rangers fans might bring. Then we have Celtic, I am certain many followers will have second thoughts about paying money to clubs who voted to accept cheating….Again this will easily cancel out any benefit of Rangers visits.

But the real cruncher is the dual contracts, UEFA & the member clubs will NOT take such cheating lightly as per Sion. The SFA will be ordered to take action – their hands are tied, 400-500 games with ineligible players = 0-3 defeats, no arguments, quite clear cut. Therefore this means instant relegation and a bloody nose for the SFA / SPL if they choose to hide behind taking the right action. Do they honestly think NO CLUB in Europe will complain ???

The decision is quite simple…abide by the rules or face the consequences – which for the long term future of our game would be DIRE. Integrity would NEVER be restored. What happens if this new weakened Rangers / Dodo FC are struggling then end up relegated…will we have to change the rules AGAIN / amend the set-up ??

Only ONE right path that would clear matters completely. Rangers FC (In Administration) are dead….ignore the bluff / bluster, players are walking / running / jumping into taxi’s…..They can join the applicants for admission to the 3rd division.

FOUR years with no European football, will not attract ANY reasonable level players. Miller will NOT throw money at the club (I doubt he will do anything other than walk away). For Celtic fans, they could enjoy gubbing a young / below standard Dodo FC for 4 years and really pull away…a further nightmare for those in the Govan cheapseats.

Surely now is the time for Mr Lawwell to speak (well Monday). The Celtic supporters need to know that Celtic are going to fight this. Of course the collusion between the other scumbags and rangers may defeat Celtic in Scotland but the world must know what is going on. UEFA need to get involved evn if it is to call into question the validity of the Scottish game.
If the Celtic board meekly accept this I will never return.

  • johnp says:

If Rangers are given this special status does it mean that Celtic also have it? If it is impossible to relegate either club then why would anyone bother?

Also, could Celtic build a strong team which wins four in a row for example. Then, sell all those players for a huge profit and just play the youth team for a season, having previously arranged with the SPL and people like Johnston that there would be no relegation.

Huge investment in the team would then happen and another 3 or 4 years of dominance for the whole thing to happen again.

Celtic would have an opportunity to find out which youth players are most likely to make it in actual games and there would be no pressure as there is no relegation.

Could Celtic take a year off and tour the world playing exhibition matches earning extra money while allowing a youth team or the ladies team to take the place of the first team. Maybe this could be a real money spinner as Celtic may be able to pick and choose when they play their first team in the SPL as they need Celtic, any Celtic.

With no danger of ever being relegated I am sure that we would accept winning three out of four championships and one season being fallow to allow the board to reproup and then invest for another period of domination. The supporters could buy season tickets at reduced prices for the fallow year to see the ‘stars of the future’.

“The clubs are mindful of a sporting integrity aspect but the commercial benefits may outweigh that.”

In front of the footballing world we have someone making a statemnt like this and it is ok .if it wasn’t so serious i would be laughing like F”£K

CELTIC GET OUT OF THIS SPL

  • Paulo says:

If they are treated as a special case then it’s game over for us all.

What will be the point of carrying on if there are no consequences to cheating?

  • Jimmy McGovern says:

How have Rankers cut dramatically Celtics lead? 20 points is 20 points, so stop focusing on knocking Celtic and focus on the fact that our Govern friends are nothing but cheats.
