SPL Celtic newsNeil Doncaster went on radio last night to explain the delay at yesterday’s SPL AGM over financial fair play regulations.

A vote on key resolutions involving administration and liquidation was delayed for a week as the crisis at Rangers rumbles on.

With six weeks till next seasons fixtures are published, and with the relegation issue still open, the SPL clubs were unable to vote on the issues that would restore sporting integrity to the game.

“These aren’t rules that are simply going to affect one club; they could potentially affect all 12 clubs,” Doncaster told Radio Scotland. “Scottish football is in a very sensitive position. Passions are running high.

“And the right thing to do is let some of the heat come out of the situation; let clarity emerge from Ibrox over the next few days and, in that context, potentially get round the table again next Monday.

“What’s important is that we have a full set of financial fair play rules to ensure there’s a motivation to live within your means.

“Given how fast moving the (Rangers) situation is, the view was that the best thing to do at the moment, rather than rush through rules that may have unintended consequences, is to have a further period of reflection and a further discussion of those rules.”

Doncaster added: “Clubs can shed a huge amount of debt already. Clubs can theoretically shed £100m of debt, agree a CVA at a penny in the pound and come back in with all that debt shed. Clubs can do that now within the rules.

“Oddly enough you might end up with more money going to creditors through the newco route than through a CVA.”

There are still no signs of any resolution to the position at Rangers with two highly conditional bids on the table for the club.

Administrators Duff and Phelps are unlikely to be able to keep the club in business beyond this month with players restored to full pay on June 1 with no income coming into the club and no renewal letters sent out to season ticket holders.

    Eh ?

What they have to do is let Rangers away with their crimes, cheating and misdemeanors but make sure no other club can do the same. That means they will make a formal statement something like “Rangers Newco can join the SPL or season 2012/13 but from now on it will be much harder for other clubs to do the same thing and there will be harsher penalties”.

In other words, a rule for one and a rule for the rest.

On another matter where were the POLICE at Motherwell when Blackman and wanyama were abused,
there stewards turned there backs and walked away,
yet rankers complain and headlines inmorning papers Bartley racially abused on twitter

I agree our players treatment at fir park was disgraceful they are going nuts about Bartley’s treatment but nothing said about Well. Those saying Kyle was racially abused during the game are out of order. He tried to break Izzy’s leg then he gets booed & it’s racist only the huns could come up with that. I don’t know WHO said what on twitter but they don’t represent us.

This guy is an absolute clown.

The moral thing to do is punish someone who has committed a crime not wait to see if their personal situation is clarified in the near future. What is happening at Rangers should have no bearing on what the SPL/SFA do. They should do the right thing. Rangers have cheated for possibly two decades and this idiot is making up stories on the radio to smooth their way to getting away with it.

The same thing did not happen to Crystal Palace, Plymouth, Portsmouth or even Leeds. There is no precedent for what should happen to Rangers. There are no rules for allowing a newco into the SPL or the SFL. The newco needs to apply. Rangers should be relegated to at least the third division and should have titles won while cheating stripped from them.

We are only at the beginning of finding out the extent of their criminality. It will all come out; EBT’s, double contacts, illegal registrations but nothing will be done about it. Too big to fail? According to half-wits like Doncaster.

The very least we can expect is that Celtic fight and expose this injustice for the world to see. Get UEFA involved. Rangers will never be the same again but to allow them to escape punishment will also be the beginning of the end for Scottish football. Forget about the paltry sums lost in TV revenue or not having the knuckle-dragging scumbags visiting away ground spreading their very special type of bonhomie, thousands and thousands will just stop going. There would be no point. The game is rigged. It is no longer a sport.

Rangers could never be relegated (neither could Celtic!). Even if they were financially crippled and finished in the bottom six the SPL is saying that they would need to be allowed to be in the top six to play Celtic another once and for the good of the other 4 teams in the top six. It is breath-taking.

Does anyone have an email address for UEFA compliance officer or indeed, anyone at UEFA?.
I feel an angry email coming on.!

Doncaster is a coward, as are those he speaks for. The problem is not just the waiting for more time to pass but the fact that it is seen as they have backed down to the bullying & threats of Sally & Jardine. Why has Sally not been hauled before those in charge for inciting those already in war mode? Lenny would never have got away with an interview like that so why should Sally? Especially as he already knew who the 3 where. They’ll view actions like this as vindication of their methods. It’s time to turn the life support off & let the toxic club from the dark ages die. It’s funny when gers fans talk about going to England, they didn’t want them when they where tax dodging & spending £12m on a player so never going to happen now, maybe the Irish League will take them, finally a place that will welcome them.
