Green's financial warning to SPL clubs

Charles Green newsCharlie Green has offered his financial advise to SPL clubs at the same time as his consortium have been linked with a move for English outfit Bury,

On July 4 the SPL clubs will vote on whether to invite in newclub Rangers who currently have no players, no sponsors, no accounts and minimal season ticket sales.

After a year of financial carnage from the club currently being liquidated it seems that most SPL clubs are ready to say no to newco and enter the new season with only one Glasgow club in the SPL.

Green has been involved with Rangers for just over a month and has failed to deliver on almost every promise from the naming of his fellow investors to delivering a CVA.

The former Sheffield United chief also admitted that he had never heard of Rangers legend Davie Cooper.

Despite his lack of knowledge of Scottish football the Yorkshireman believes that clubs voting no to newco face financial ruin.

Green explained: “Part of my role and that of my executive team over the next few days is to understand from the chairmen, the SPL and the SFA where Rangers can go.

Are we now going to try and heal the divides that exist in football in Scotland?

I’ve said it before but again I would like to reiterate it, the issues that we are all having to face now are not as a result of Rangers supporters and fans, and certainly not the investors and myself.

We want to rebuild the image of Rangers and everyone wants to play in the Premier League, that’s the objective of every club here.

“Whether that can happen is out of my control, it’s in the hands of the other members of the SPL but my emails are blocked at the moment with fans thanking me for saving their club — but also making it clear that Rangers fans will unite, whether we play in the SPL, the First Division or the Third Division.

“I know Rangers fans will not desert this club no matter what happens now but our future is important, not just for Rangers, but for the whole of Scottish football.

“The financial implications for the whole of Scotland, not just the SPL clubs, is a massive problem to face up to — and there is no easy solution.”

Charlie Green has stated “The financial implications for the whole of Scotland, not just the SPL clubs, is a massive problem to face up to — and there is no easy solution.” Sorry but there is – Division Three is were you are going.

    Solution found.

I am sick to death of this nonsense. Poor Rangers, Oldco & newco. It wasn’t us it was someone else.
Cheating on a massive scale for twenty years and they expect sympathy.
    Get them expelled.

    No to Newco.

    Scaremongering bullshit as usual

When will Rangers get into their heads, they are not wanted

I dont really care what division the newco ends up in- as long as we play them on a level playing field and hammer them every time.

The things I do care about are that the newco must be called something like rangers united, rangers 2012, or even govan united. Their badge must be a new design. Names and symbols are very important in football, especially were diehards and bigots are concerned. They must acknowledge, openly, that the oldco monster is well and truly dead and buried.

I also think the most important thing of all is that all the crimes and cheating of the oldco are investigated. More than anything, I want them to lose all the titles they cheated to win.

If they did all these thing, I could probably live with the newco in the SPL- just about.

  • Never heard of davie cooper don’t think he’s heard of the 80s when the Huns were getting 12000 average gates the big gates only came when they were spending other people’s money it’s the newco way. A season or two winning nothing with no Europe and struggling and you won’t see them for dust. Remember if there no cheating there no winning it’s the rankers way. Hail hail to Scotland’s true champions.

I’m sure his deep concern for Scottish Football will be greatly appreciated by Peterhead, East Stirling, Berwick Rangers et al as he can help these clubs with their 50,000+ average attendance….wake up Charlie you dreaming again.

He is ONLY interested in making a profit and would sell up tomorrow to ANY bidder stupid enough to stump up the cash.

  • THIS GUY GREEN REALLY DOES AMUSE ME NO END, ITS LIKE LISTENING TO A ROBOT, THEY PRESS A BUTTON AND ABSOLUTE PISH JUST POORS OOT, HE STILL KEEPS USING THE WORD RANGERS.

I’M SUSPECTING THAT HE HAS NEVER WITNESSED A DEATH IN HIS LONG LIFE BECAUSE HE DOESN’T GET THE CONCEPT OV BEING DEAD, YOU NO LONGER EXIST, YOT CAN KEEP CALLING OUT THERE NAMES BUT THERE NEVER COMING BACK TO LIFE, KEEP UP THE TOP ONE LINERS GREENY BHOY… HAIL HAIL, NO TO NEWCO

  • MaxX says:

‘Heal the divides’, I’ve heard it all now!

What divides would that be charles?

The divide between a football team that STOLE money from sick children, hospitals, hospices, schools, libraries, the police, the armed forces, cancer treatments, nurses, teachers, the fire brigade, old age pensioners, roads, street lighting, invalid care homes, old folks homes, child care, health care, the ambulance service, deprived children and used the money to cheat every football team in Scotland, and a few in Europe, out of millions upon millions of pounds in prize monies.

Not to mention the trophies themselves, paying outragious wages to players and dishing out backhanders to the likes of the beast souness, Ogilvie, and walter smith like it was going out of fashion, direct from the taxpayers pocket and the robbery on the National Health Service, and the rest of Scottish football clubs who didn’t?

If it were any other team or any other sport, rugby, cricket, golf, they would never hit another ball, EVER AGAIN.

Scottish football has just became the sporting integrity equivalent of all-in wrestling!

  • paranoidandroid says:

“I shall heal the divide”. Is Charlie the Messiah? Or is he just a very silly boy?

  • JoeG says:

That’s right!!!! A big boy did it and ran away!!

Idiot! If it wasn’t the rangers fans who drove this bus, and came along for the ride then who did?

  • Aldo says:

No to the Newco….Scottish football was rated 4th in the european co-efficients before Murray took over the late glasgow rangers and distorted the playing field….vote no and get the league back on track like the germans have done….we’ll be knocking back applications from EPL clubs to play in scotland in a few years

  • Will Willows says:

Next year at this time we will be having this discussion about 8 SPL teams who are currently near to administration and without the TV deal that Rangers brings, could be in administration and winding up with no angel in sight. Revenge should be cold gruel, something to chew a long time instead of burning your mouth on the hotpot. Take 30 points from the New Rangers and let them try to stay up. It will be no easy task making up the equivalent of 10 losses.
