King: Only an asset stripper would be interested in Rangers

Dave King Rangers newsExiled director Dave King believes that new club Rangers are only attractive to an asset stripper.

King has been a vocal critic of Charles Green who claims to have bought the assets of the former football club for £5.5m.

Doubts about Green’s intentions were magnified this morning when Team 12 appeared on the SPL fixture list rather than newclub Rangers.

King invested £20m in Rangers under David Murray more than a decade ago and is determined to ensure that Green doesn’t walk away from Ibrox with a healthy profit.

“I really don’t believe Rangers represents a financial opportunity for anyone other than an asset stripper,” King admitted.

“I think what we do have to avoid is another situation where essentially someone has come in and acquired the club and is going to use the fans’ money.

“There is only one way forward for the club and that is that the club needs a level of funds which is way beyond the ability of the fans to support it with season tickets.

“There is a structured financial deficit and unless the club gets access to funders who are willing to put money in on a non-commercial basis, I think for at least three years, then I don’t think the club will go forward.”

With Walter Smith and King openly challenging Green the prospects of the former Sheffield United chief getting fans to buy into his plans- mainly through buying season tickets- seems remote.

Amongst Green’s many claims was that Rangers would be debt free with £30m in the bank by the end of July but with each passing day that promise looks more and more empty.

With the claim that the cheats would be debt free and have 30 million in the bank within seven weeks from today would certainly set off alarms for me if I was HMRC and the SFA. Really? You have that money ready to invest yet you tried to rip off the country, disgrace the Scottish game further than you have already and yet you have a debt free 30 million quid bank account?
If the SFA allow these cheats to go unpunished they will upset more than Celtic fans.

Why do so many people dislike Green? I must be missing something. Of course I don’t understand how he claim the club will be debt free and have an extra £30 million in the bank by July’s end.

Also how is it Whyte and Murray haven’t been charged with anything? How can Whyte especially continue to run companies that way and not pay proper taxes without charges?

    I don’t get it.

My concern is how this episode will affect the league. The whole thing with Duff and Phelps to Whyte to the SFA has been mishandled.

    Long live Celtic fc.
