SFA football newsBrechin fear that their Ramsdens Cup tie with Sevco on Sunday could be postponed.

Talks between Sevco and the SFA have still to reach a conclusion over the transfer of membership from Rangers.

With no audited accounts, no disclosure of investors and very little in the way of income from season ticket sales or sponsorship the SFA are concerned about the sustainability of the new club.

Hawick Royal Albert and Kelty Hearts have missed out on friendlies against Sevco due to the licence issue with Brechin chairman Martin Smith facing an anxious wait to see if Sunday’s match will go ahead.

“I’ve been having sleepless nights,” Smith admitted. “Every day I expect a phone call or text saying they have the licence and we can play.

“We are going on the assumption that the game will go ahead. Everything is in place but we got the Armageddon scenario from Neil Doncaster, whereby Sky pull the plug completely and put SPL and SFL clubs in danger.

“That would see a big change in our circumstances because that is money we would get at the end of the season and if it isn’t there we’d cut our cloth to fit.

“We thought the Rangers game would help to fill the gap if that were to happen and if that game weren’t to go ahead we would have to find ways to get around that.

“We have not done the budget yet for this year, but obviously with the Rangers game in mind we could have a great start to the season.

“We have already sold more season tickets and that allied with the money coming from the Rangers game and TV coverage from BBC Alba would make a big difference.”

The SFL website has still to name Brechin’s opponents on Sunday with concerns over the name of the club. Tickets for the match list Rangers as the opponents with the old club crest which could leave the new club open to action from creditors of Rangers.

Brechin were originally drawn against Dundee in the regionalised first round of the Ramsdens Cup. If Sevco can’t fulfill the fixture they’ll be given a bye into the second round.

I don’t care what happens- as long as the SPL DON’T AGREE TO ‘COVER UP’ THE EBT SCANDAL.

Nothing can be allowed to stop this investigation, not Green, not Ogilvie , not snivelling McCoist.

Less than a week to go and still this issue dominates Scottish football, which begs the question “Is there only one team in Scotland,”
For heaven’s sake ,get this sorted before Scottish football becomes an even bigger laughing stock in the eyes of the world.

Eh what? You would never have had that money in the first place. Newco were only allowed in less than a fortnight ago, but Brechin seem to have been factoring that in somehow before even knowing? Pish. Utter.

They would never have had the money from TV rights in the first place so to be talking about it now and how it will affect them if Newco don’t play is nonsense. They were always going to have to cut their cloth accordingly.

Newco may have given them a boost but that would not be budgeted for a few weeks ago nevermind now! No doubt things will be thrown into disarray but I’m sure Spartans or Cove Rangers could nicely fill the gap should Newco not get their license, even though they will.

Brechin and all the other clubs will have someone to play. Load of tosh!

The SFL have never actually announced that anyone will be playing Brechin.

Check out their fixture list : http://www.scottishfootballleague.com/football/challenge-cup/fixtures/

There’s no club scheduled to play Brechin, and there never has been.

Newco or Sevco will get their licence tomorrow on the condition their name can not legally be in any way associated with Glasgow Rangers who are still in administration and are yet to start the liquidation process.

At least it sounds like they have a new name,
    Bye rangers

Here we go again. Still trying to move the goalposts!! I guess this is what happens when you have always pulkled the strings of the sfa and spl, but with no money to offer in ebt’s, all they can offer is a fresh run at the goat no charge!
