Neil Lennon newsNeil Lennon has brushed aside the bigotry comments of Charles Green as the SFA await the Sevco chiefs’ explanation.

Before his side’s extra-time win over Brechin on Sunday Green said that the decision to place Sevco in the Third Division was based on bigotry.

Celtic declined to respond to Green’s claim but Lennon was asked about it as he previewed tonight’s Champions League qualifier against HJK Helsinki.

“The club have said that it is not worthy of response, so,” he replied before pausing. “I was golfing, I only read about it yesterday and I found it quite funny.

“He has only been here five minutes and he is calling us all bigots already.”

Green has been asked to explain his comments to the SFA and come up with any evidence for his claims.

Sevco have still to be granted full SFA membership with the governing body stretching the rules to accommodate the new club who have yet to produce any audited accounts or publish who their backers are.

Despite the comments and claims from Sevco officials Stewart Regan is anxious to provide the club with full SFA membership.

The SFA chief revealed: “Some of the comments made have been undignified and irresponsible but there is a recognition within the SFA that Rangers want to get back to the top of the game.

We’ve met all the key players contained within the new board at Ibrox and they talk a lot of sense.

Rangers have conditional membership of the SFA and are close to becoming full members. The governing body has a responsibility to treat Rangers as we would any other club and move on.

We’ve satisfied ourselves that the board members are compliant so far as our articles are concerned and have taken every step to get as much disclosure as possible.”

    Sevco licence.
Does this mean that Sevco have agreed to previous honours being stripped (dual contracts) or has the SFA bottled it.
