SPL Celtic newsCeltic fans face two very early starts to their day for the away matches at Ross County and Inverness Caley Thistle later this month.

Neil Lennon’s side first SPL trip to Ross County on August 18 will kick-off at 12.15 with the following weeks match at Inverness Caley Thistle kicking off at 12.45.

Those two fixtures are amongst the first to be televised live by Sky Sports with the Edinburgh derby on August 12 and Dundee derby on August 19 also being screened live.

The new look u-20 league has also announced it’s fixture list with Celtic opening up at home to St Mirren on August 7 with the game staged at Firhill.

Dunfermline, Falkirk and Hamilton will join the SPL clubs providing a 15 team league meaning that one club will have a free week.

All games are scheduled to be played on Tuesday’s with a month long winter break between December 18 and January 22.

With 15 teams in the league there will be 28 fixtures over the season rather than the 22 matches of recent seasons.

Adding in SFA Youth Cup matches and the Next Gen Series, where Celtic face PSV Eindhoven, Sporting Lisbon and Aston Villa, provides a busy schedule with most of the Celtic players also involved at international level.

Teams in the u-20 league will be able to field two u-21 players and a goalkeeper of any age to provide more of a bridge to first team football, seven substitutes will also be allowed.

Celtic are likely to field a very young side in the competition based around last season’s u-17 side with last season’s u-19 side being promoted into the development squad.

After the u-20 opener at home to St Mirren Celtic face Motherwell away on August 14, Hamilton at home on August 21 then Dunfermline away on September 4.
