Neil LennonNeil Lennon has revealed that Tunisian striker Lassad Nouioui has been a long term target.

The 26-year-old is a free agent after scoring 14 goals in 23 starts plus 10 substitute appearances as Deportivo de la Coruna won promotion back to La Liga.

With Anthony Stokes out injured until the end of October Neil Lennon is anxious to get back up for Gary Hooper after Mo Bangura, Morten Rasmussen and Daryl Murphy left the club.

Lennon doesn’t want to put too much pressure on teenager Tony Watt with Getafe striker Miku signing a season long loan deal on the final day of the transfer window.

Asked about an update on the situation with Nouioui the Celtic boss said: “I know there is talk of him going to Levante but I have had clarification from his advisors that he will be in Glasgow this evening.

“We have agreed terms and the paperwork is done so we just need him in to do his medical.

“He will do a couple of days’ fitness work because he obviously hasn’t had a club since the end of the season and we just need to gauge his physical condition and take it from there.

“He is six foot two, he leads the line very well, he can play inside or outside the box and he can head it very well.

“We have liked him for a wee while. I know most of his goals have come in the Second Division in Spain but it is still a good standard and he has played for Deportivo in the last couple of seasons. He will bring another dimension to the team.”

  • Shamrock hoops says:

Fans were bang out if order today booing team at final whistle, players missing today rogne, mulgrew, kayal, brown, Ledley, samaras, stokes, wanyama off injured half time and we finish with a couple oh young lads in midfield- get a grip!!!

    • Stevie says:

Totally agree mate having come through the eighties supporting Celtic I have never ever felt the need to boo any Celtic player especially young players.
This is Celtic football club we’re much better than that.

  • daviebhoy says:

I never heard the fans booing at any point of the game. They were frustrated at the daft errors the team was making. The team are only concerned by europe this season

  • daviebhoy says:

And we should have enough class in the team to be beating teams like hibs

  • Stevie says:

Don’t know a great deal about Lassad, but he’ll be made welcome.
Didn’t know about much about Larsson either mind you.

    • Dougie Bhoy says:

Agreed. Lets hope Lassad doent do a Larsson on his debut and set a chic charnley 35 yard screamer up…. although if he goes on to bag a ridiculous amount of goals then Im sure we can let it slide! HH!

  • StandAndDeliver says:

Hibs were coming off a poor performance and we underestimated them. We will not get away with playing 2 teams, we are not strong enough in depth. I hope we focus on the Title a bit more, by all means use youngsters and give them a chance, but just try to be a bit patient. Wasn’t good enough but we know we are capable of much better. Exciting times ahead! HH

Disappointing result – yes. But we had almost a whole team missing.

Give the young bhoys encouragement instead of booing them!

    HH!!

  • Thomas says:

What’s the latest on Lassad? BBC Scotland where super fast with news yesterday afternoon that he was staying in Spain. Funny that…

  • williebhoy says:

I know nothing about the guy, but if we have been tracking for some time then all good news. Another one kept from the press despite all their sources LOL

Disappointing to lose 2 points but fully expected that making so many changes would result in basic errors. I’m sure lessons will be learned by all involved.
