Efe Ambrose Celtic newsEfe Ambrose doesn’t mind where Neil Lennon wants to play him.

The Nigerian was billed as a no nonsense central defender when he was signed from FC Ashdod on transfer deadline day but made an assured debut in midfield against Raith Rovers on Tuesday night.

With Joe Ledley and Beram Kayal returning from injury Lennon has plenty of options in the middle of the park with the Nigerian happy to play wherever he’s asked.

“I am comfortable playing any position the coach wants to help the team, whether it’s centre-back or midfield,” the new bhoy explained.

“If I play centre-back, I can play it perfectly. If it’s midfield, I can play there, too.

“I enjoyed the game on Tuesday and it was good to see Gary Hooper in action.

“He was superb. He scored marvellous goals and looked one helluva striker. That was the first time I had played alongside him and I saw the type of movement he makes.

It was amazing and he’s one of the best I have seen.

“I thank the management of Celtic because they put in everything for me to be at the club.

“If it wasn’t for them, maybe I’d still be in Israel trying to pursue everything, but they made it happen quicker than expected.”

Ambrose was on the bench for last week’s Champions League opener against Benfica and would love to be a part of the side that faces Spartak Moscow next week.

He added: “The feeling I had with my team-mates against Raith Rovers was amazing, they helped me settle down very quickly and I thoroughly enjoyed the game.

“Another big attraction for me is that Celtic is one of the biggest clubs in the world and has a great history.

“Being part of that history and helping them win trophies and go as far as possible in the Champions League will make me a better player.

“For me, what really matters is team work and spirit because we are one. We are like a family. We have the same goals and objectives — to win every match we play.”

This bhoys looks the kiddy…ok it was only raith Rovers but his simple football and awareness and turn of pace was an eye opener. Seems like the player we’ve been missin and our mid-field is full of various talents.

I’d still like to see him in central defence though along side Chuck.

If he plays him as the holding mid-fielder thats ok as long as Rogne is not in the starting 11….Wilson and Chuck in that case. Thomas Rogne is a heartbreaker waiting to happen, mark my words.

I thought Rogne done well when he came on against Benfica….good in the air….wouldn’t go with Lustig in the middle again
