Bahrudin Atajic Celtic newsCeltic maintained their 100% record in the u-20 league with a hard fought 1-0 win over Aberdeen at Brechin today.

Bahrudin Atajic kept up his remarkable scoring record taking his tally for the season to eight from five SPL matches and leading the line with style.

On the back of last week’s 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa in the Next Gen Series John Kennedy had challenged the players to respond to that setback with today’s win at Brechin maintaining the domestic momentum.

With seven players at a Scotland u-17 gathering John Kennedy was able to call in a number of players from the development squad.

Aberdeen have been in good form in the new look u-20 league including a win away to Hearts on the opening day of the season as well as a 6-0 win over St Johnstone and 4-1 win last week away to Dundee.

Atajic had scored a hat-trick in his last SPL match, a 3-2 win over Dundee United and caused a constant threat to the Aberdeen defence with his clever footwork, positional sense and eye for a half chance.

The only goal of the game came in the 18th minute and was started by Marcus Fraser. His diagonal pass was controlled by Denny Johnstone whose pass to Lewis Kidd teed up Atajic who drilled the ball home without hesitation.

Celtic created the bulk of the chances throughout the match but were unable to find a second goal as Aberdeen pushed for an equaliser but Glenn Daniels kept a clean sheet in his competitive debut.

Earlier today the Twardzik twins, Filip and Patrik signed contract extensions with Filip committing himself to the club until 2015 and Patrik to 2014.

In the third round draw for the SFA Youth Cup Celtic have been drawn away to Hearts.
