The troubles at Ibrox have kicked off another bout of tabloid mud slinging.
With Charles Green being given a platform to tell all about the new love of his life and Craig Whyte’s re-appearance the stakes are being raised with the result of the Big Tax Case expected to be announced within days.
Yesterday the Daily Record were highlighting Green’s intention to stay in Govan till he hears the Champions League anthem over Ibrox. Accompanying the story was a claim that the SFA were holding onto £200,000 due to Rangers from the sale of Charlie Adam to Liverpool from Blackpool.
Over at The Sun Whyte was discussing his intention to take legal action against Duff & Phelps and joked that he was now loved by Celtic fans.
This morning both newspapers decided to fire back at each other with the Record claiming that Whyte ‘told his pet paper The Sun’ then adding ‘Whyte has already used his cheerleaders at The Sun to falsely claim our exclusive on his sale of season tickets to fund his takeover was “crap”. ‘
Not to be be caught out The Sun picks up on the Adam sell-on fee stating: “The fading Daily Record yesterday claimed Green was in another bitter fight with the SFA over £200,000 being denied them following former Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam’s move from Liverpool to Stoke.
“They reported it was the governing body who had sent the agreed sell-on cash to administrators Duff & Phelps.
“But Rangers last night confirmed it’s the ENGLISH FA who diverted the money, which actually totals £220,000.”
With the soundbites from all camps cranked up the war of words online and in print is only going to become more fearsome.

Let’s hope they, the Sun and the Record, kill each other.
It’s laughable that the DR calls any tabloid someone’s pet paper when they employ such sycophants as jingle jangle an jabba, who exclusively revealed excerpts from RTC and Paul McConviles blogs. Remember Keith ‘off the radar wealth’ jacksons Craig Whyte pr spin?
Do either paper have any comment on the content of last night’s Channel 4 news?
A level of intimidation Russian drug dealers wouldn’t reach.
A scourge on Scottish football.
I just hope Lenny doesn’t shout at a ref today or it’ll be front page tomorrow.
GOOD 1 PARANOIDANDROID,HOPEFULLY!!!! gonna get worse going by ch4 last night.newspaers SHOULD nave responsibilty to stop their lies. After Lennon death threat, still at it.dont now wits worse Newco mob or papers.COYBIG
Wouldn’t buy or read either Mankie rag.
Agree totally – I gave up on these rags years ago.
Each and every Celtic minded person should bhoycott them NOW !
The dying Daily rags are vying for an ever decreasing market and as such will become ever more disparaging to each other to win market share.
You couldn’t put a cigarette paper between them in terms of poison, propaganda, misinformation and downright lies. They are the dinosaurs of the communication age and are in the death throes of existence.
What we will witness over the next few months and years is a pitiful spectacle between two of the worst cases of toilet roll journalism this country has ever had the misfortune to suffer under as they kick scratch and claw to survive the inevitable flush down the pan.
Let the contest begin and rejoice at their passing.
yer spot on with that comment pal~~~
well said!!
The Daily Ranger calling another paper a “pet”. Shameless cheekery.
It’s unbelievable. And they are doing it whilst at the same time lying and distracting on behalf of Sevco with the crap about the Adam money.
Do they still not grasp that the money is legally Rangers, which is now legally bound to pay it to the creditors.
Rangers FC still exists until BDO does the world a favour and puts the monstrosity out of it’s misery.
What part of Sevco are NOT Rangers do they fail to grasp!
Both seem to be saying-” We are CONSIDERABLY better at sycophantic bull*hit than you are”
Comedy gold just watching these two tabloids hit each other with their handbags!!!

This. Boycott the pair of them and listen as the whumping of handbags and bleating of windbags diminishes to a mere whisper in the distance…

The Sun is bad but the Record is the worst paper in the UK by a mile. The Record are nothing but a propaganda Sevco/Rangers Fanzine. I wouldn’t even trust the date on that piece of s@ite.
