Charles Green orange RangerThe SFA have bottled out of a disrepute charge against Charles Green by delivering two not proven verdicts.

Green made highly critical comments about the SPL commission chaired by Lord Nimmo Smith claiming that it was ‘fundamentally misconceived’.

The SFA have shown a marked reluctance to discipline Green for his outspoken comments with Stewart Regan happy to excuse inflammatory comments in the interests of selling season tickets.

Lord Nimmo Smith’s commission will look into prima facia evidence that Rangers operated a system of dual contracts based on evidence emerging from an HMRC investigation into the issue.

Despite raising the charge of bringing the game into disrepute the SFA opted out of punishing Green who said: “Although the SPL goes to great lengths to emphasise the independence of its commission, the commission is not independent of the SPL. It has been appointed by the SPL. It follows SPL rules and its process is managed by SPL staff.

“I don’t question the impartiality of the individual panel members but whatever decision they reach is a decision of the SPL.”

Following the SFA verdict Green responded saying: “To be critical of the SPL’s handling of the EBT issue does not mean that I am showing disrespect for the game and that view appears to have been shared by the judicial panel.

“It is my hope that we can all move on from today and start working constructively for the good of the game.

“The creation of the EBT Commission by the SPL following the events of the summer and the club’s attempts at constructive discussion has been particularly difficult for those of us who are new to Rangers and are trying to rebuild the club.

“It appears for all the world to be yet another obstacle being placed in our path as we try to rebuild a great Scottish sporting institution.”

A great sporting institution? Is this the same great sporting institution that adopted a sectarian signing policy for many a year!

  • Mike Bhoyle says:

What I seriously detest about this idiot is…
In the interest of earning a Buck he stokes the flames of sectarianism..not really caring about the consequences.
At least when Bomber Brown and his ilk spout their garbage you can at least identify with their background.
This Muppet is only interested in conning these suckers…by whatever means necessary.
I hope somebody has now whispered in his shell like…and told him to shut it.
    Seriously doubt it ‘though.

  • Tully says:

And banned Catholics playing for them for 100+ year!

  • Tambourine Bhoy says:

The same ‘sporting’ institution that cheated tax payers, every SPL club, other clubs around europe and many companies/businesses across the country.

What Chucky doesn’t seem to understand (or fails to acknowledge) is the fact that he’ll be ‘rebuilding’ NOTHING. He has a brand new club to get up and running proper… but I’d say he’s already failed at that!

Perhaps (as a few folk have guessed) the SFA don’t feel the need to punish NEWco, because they know they won’t have to. Bigger suits are a’ coming!

Great to be a Bhoy. Hail hail!

  • the English language is not this fuds strong point .my dictionary said /establishment for care or education, hospital, college etc.they stole from the tax payers.

There is another possible side to this. When kids start acting up and showing off…best way Ia to pay no attention and they give up. Have the sfa etc realised chuck is trying to get sevco booted out so he can cash in on the ground he bought? They’re not paying attention to him and hoping he’ll shut up. Just a thought. My honest opinion though is that they’re too spineless to do anything. Old boy network again.

  • Declan Forde. says:

He may be a typical Yorkshire man on the make but currently he is running rings around the SPL.the SFL and the SFA.

Any fine by the SFA would only give Chico even more credence with the moronic element of the support. Better to let him hang himself, they are already feeling the pinch as he has been totally unable to reveal the TWENTY, then it was EIGHT major investors. He has concocted some poxy deal with Mike Ashley and failed on a fund raising trip to the states…then ran hotfoot to N. Ireland in desperation. Even the blind can tell when something is wrong…the penny is dropping.

Sally doesn’t want anyone away from Piebox…we shall see how lucky they are in the Scottish cup. ICT have a decent record in previous visits so might well do a QOTS on them…then the pressure will really mount.

  • Ciaran says:

I feel Green has been so aggressive towards the governing bodies, they are at a stage now where they are reluctant to punish him.

I hope I am wrong, but his constant bombardment of the SFA and SPL has left them half afraid of him, or more to the point the Hoards. Any decision against him or Sevco could leave the decision maker fearing for their, or their family’s safety.

There may also be an element of clemency as they (hopefully) see the big one coming.

Today’s decision may have been the cigarette before he faces the firing squad.

  • Buffythecat says:

Looks like the SFA have laid the ground for the nice wee cosy chat with Campbell Ogilvie and Coco Green to help the sevco zombies to ”move forward”. If I was a businessman I wouldn’t go near Ibrox or have any dealing with them at all as everything they touch turns to f*+**d. Just look what happened to JJB a few years after cutting a deal with dead rangers…they are dead themselves! This is one tainted, toxic brand of a ”football” club.

  • Joe says:

Things will never change. they are getting away with this even as a third division level club.
Make no mistake here, they will get off Scot free with the corruption charges too, proven or not. The goats are circling so the gay handshakes and rolled up pants leg guys can make more baby goats.

  • StandAndDeliver says:

That is surprising! And here was me convinced he would have the book thrown at him.

  • Bonty says:

The SPL can’t do anything about his comments. Newco aren’t in the SPL, if he says anything about the SFL or the SFA, he better duck as the book will surely be flung his way. Roll on the EBT tribunal, happy days ahead.
