Craig Whyte is preparing legal action against Duff & Phelps claiming that they reneged on a cut price deal handling the administration of Rangers.
In an interview in The Sun Whyte claims that a deal was done for Duff & Phelps to handle a short sharp administration at a cost of £500,000 returning the club to Whyte.
Instead the protracted administration resulted in Rangers being liquidated, Duff & Phelps picking up a fee of £3m and Charles Green getting the assets of the former club for a knock-down £5.5m.
Whyte has kept his silence for over six months but after last weeks interview with the BBC it seems that the former billionaire is determined to get his side of the story out.
“I am currently taking legal advice,” Whyte told The Sun. “Duff and Phelps have shafted me.
“They agreed a deal of a flat fee of £500,000 and to go in and out of administration quickly. There are three million reasons why the administrators dragged their heels.”
Whyte added: “The biggest disaster was Duff and Phelps not sticking to their word. I realised they were not going to do a quick deal like they said and were running their own agenda.
“However for Duff and Phelps to say they never knew ( of the Ticketus deal) is complete nonsense. Everyone in the buy-out team was aware of it.
“I have provided The Scottish Sun with evidence backing up what I said.”
Yesterday the BBC obtained a taped conversation of Whyte detailing the Ticketus deal with David Grier, a partner in Duff & Phelps.
