Efe Ambrose Celtic newsEfe Ambrose is at a loss to explain Celtic’s Jekyll and Hyde form.

The defender was one of the top performers in the 1-0 defeat from Inverness Caley Thistle but took no personal consolation from the result.

After the match Neil Lennon went public about a confrontation with some fans which summed up the frustrations of the day.

“These things come from desperation,” Ambrose said about the fans frustrations. “They want us to win but when we do not, you see the other side of them, the ugly side. This is football.

“I believe that, with patience, everything works out better than they think.

The team is just building up and the injuries coming along do not help. It is affecting the team a bit.

“When all our players are back, you are going to see a better Celtic team. The fans should stay behind us and stick with us.

“They are here to see what this team can do, but we are only just starting out.”

Ambrose added: “I am short of words as losing at home is not something any of us enjoy and everyone was silent afterwards. We are most unhappy at the situation.

“I don’t believe it was really that bad a game for us against Inverness, but we just could not get the ball into the net.

“From now on, we will make sure this never happens again at Celtic Park. You can’t just do it with words though, we have to say it on the pitch.

“I believe we will go back to the training ground and put everything into place. We still believe in ourselves and will work extra hard to do it.”

I tend to agree with the big man. It was not very good against Inverness but it was not as bad as everyone has been saying. Supporters have the right to voice an opinion but I am genuinely shocked at times by the mood swings of the Celtic support. Maybe many were not alive during the mid-70s (75/76!) of the late 80s to mid 90s.When did we start to believe we had a divine right to win. Remember, we are not the people, and never want to be. Inverness played well, stuck to their game and won. Celtic can make up for this on Wednesday . Beat Spartak to make the last 16 and people will soon change their tune. A wee bit of equilibrium would not go amiss.

  • Well I for one would rather be top by a point with a game in hand and guaranteed Euro footy after New year than cruising in the league and out of Europe like most folk would of expected and would of probably accepted to a certain extent.

Celtic have played around 10 more games than most in the SPL with qualifiers, CL group stage and still in all domestic cups.

All Lenny can do is try and keep a bit continuity and play a similar team that doin well in Europe. Its not his fault and the players have to step up and play.

I dont get what all the panic is about though and they “so called fans” callin for his head or even givin him grief can fcuk right off as far as I’m concerned. The man has Won the SC, the league, qualified for Europe secured Euro after New Year, has a young team worth millions and set the finances straight and more.

The man is doing a fantastic job and has truly brought back the thunder!!

If we don’t shoot we won’t score goals….struggling to think of many occasions where we actually asked the goalkeeper to make a save – Not for the first time !!

We can beat Spartak, but if a shadow Barcelona squad go down to Benfica it will mean little now out of our hands due to our own stupidity.

I attended throughout the Murray years, saw some really bad teams, lacking ideas, shape…but we are in a very strong position in Scottish football and letting it slip through our fingers.

Efe it boils down to this

Ability only beats hard work, when ability works hard!

You and your team mates have (imo) walked onto the pitch far to many times this season thinking that the 3 points were already won and the opposition would fall at your feet and let you score as many goals as you’d like to.

Been reading the last come of days about the high and mighty celtic fans slagging off other celtic fans for critising Lenny and the team. If people want to critisize then thats up to them. We have young bhoys that coud’ve beat caley thistle so why is Lenny playing tired players and why is he playing injured players? I can handle get in beat but only if its in the right manner. I’m sick of the slow style of play at parkhead. They need a bit more urgency and a bit more heart.

In the same respect, I’m happy with the teams position at home and in europe. C’mon Lenny, rest the tired players!
