Victor Wanyama newsNeil Lennon insists that Celtic won’t be left high and dry during the transfer window.

Victor Wanyama and Gary Hooper are certain to attract bids next month on the back of their Champions League displays.

The 31st of January is one of the most dramatic days of the football year but Lennon won’t be pushed into any deals that will leave Celtic short for the remainder of the season.

“If it is the last day of the window, it is too late,” he stated dealing with transfer speculation. “I would not have time to replace anyone, but clubs have all month to put a bid in.

“It does happen but it will not happen here, not to any of our major players anyway but I admit I am pretty confident going into the window because we don’t need to sell.

“Everyone has their price and I think I will have a say in the decision if a huge bid comes in for any of the players but I don’t want them to leave.

“I want them to see this season out anyway, and try and make a real fist of the competitions.

“There are not many teams still going on four fronts, including the Champions League, with half the season gone.”

With the money pouring in from the Champions League Celtic are in a position to strengthen their squad with Lennon hopeful of bringing in a few new faces to freshen his squad up.

He added: “There are a couple of positions we would like to strengthen, the left-hand side either full-back or wide-area but if I don’t add to it I am pretty happy with what I have.”

I’d like to see a few fringe players moved on, offering little blocking places for our younger players. While a couple of positions do need attention at first team level.

Absolutely no way we should accept ANY bid on the last day of the transfer window if we don’t have a suitable replacement in place.

Its tough Willie. The good teams nowadays need to have strength in depths, not just having a strong first 11. We need a big squad and we need them to be able to not bring the standard of football down. If we are to maintain on four fronts we need a good size squad and they need to be talented. Our problm is the good players for us will not be content sitting on a bench like they do at bigger clubs. Look at Man U. They have Van Persie, Rooney, Welbeck and Hernandez. Welbeck and Hernandez would probably be starting for 16 other clubs in the EPL, but they know they will get enough playing time to consider themselves an integral part of the team. United are famous for that, look at ole soljskear, Berbatov even Micky Owen.

We don’t have that luxury, McCourt should have left already, I can’t see Kayal being happy with the current situation and we have been fortunate with Lustig and Matthews so far at RB.

Who would you move on? And who would you trust from the youth team to have an extended run in the team due to injuries?

I’d be quite happy to see such as Zaluska, Rogne, McCourt, Kayal, Stokes moved on to make space for others of a higher quality / pacier.

From the youths I like Watt – Herron – Twardzik – George…should see if Keatings can recover his best form

I wouldn’t entertain any bids for Forster, Matthews, Lustig, Hooper or Wanyama…any others if the bid is exceptional then worthy of consideration only if we can be 100% of quality replacements.
