Madjid Bougherra newsNeil Lennon has spoken out about being denied two penalties in Celtic’s 2-0 win over St Mirren.

Calum Murray replaced Alan Muir and never looked as if he had control of the match.

Gary Hooper was pushed off the ball in an early incident with Lennon particularly annoyed by an clash that say Beram Kayal hit the deck.

Asked about the penalty incidents Lennon claimed: “There were two blatant ones. The one on Hooper and the one on Beram, particularly the one on Beram. The linesman is on that side and he has a clear look at it.

“His first touch has taken Beram across McAusland who has taken him out, so it is as clear a penalty as you will see.

“There were some suggestions this week after the Arbroath game that we get all the big decisions, but that is obviously not the case so we can put that theory to bed straight away.”

Lennon restored Victor Wanyama and Hooper to his starting XI and was rewarded with a goal from each player as the hoops moved four points clear of second placed Motherwell.

The Celtic boss added: “We played well and should have been out of sight before we got the second goal. I was pleased with the way we worked their goalkeeper and our concentration levels.

“There was good attitude, tempo and aggression and we managed to maintain that for the majority of the game.

“We have a four-point cushion with a game in hand, I don’t know if we will win that game in hand but we are starting to get some daylight between us and the rest, which is obviously what we want.”

Sorry but for me the first ibcident is not a penalty, stonewall foul? yes, but no penalty, it was in the “D” at least to my mind, the second one with Beram Kayal is the type of incident referee’s should use to teach budding ref’s what a penalty looks like.

Nevermind the fouls couple of handballs as well. Solid showing from the bhoys in green and white. Would hope the shift a few half season tickets and get the attendance up above 50k.

The shove on Kayal by the goalkeeper was either unnoticed or unpunished by any of the officials. Beram’s self discipline in the face of this provocation was admirable.

Lennon probably get it for daring to speak out. As opposed to some rodents that can accuse the sfa spl and anybody else they feel like of everything and get away with it
