John Kennedy Celtic newsCeltic’s youth side are back in action today, taking on Hibs at Easter Road with a 2pm kick off.

UPDATE: MATCH OFF.

The young hoops haven’t played a league match for a month due to the Next Gen Series and an SFA Youth Cup tie against today’s opponents.

Celtic edged past Hibs 3-2 after extra-time in their last domestic outing with John Kennedy anticipating another tough test with the Edinburgh side two points behind Celtic but with three more matches played.

“We’ve had a chance to get recharged after playing a lot of games so far,” Kennedy explained. “The players are rested and back towards 100% fitness which is great at this time of the season.

“The cup-tie with Hibs was tough and we’re expecting another hard game but we’re looking forward to going to Easter Road.

“Losing the cup tie will be motivation for the Hibs players but we’ll go there with the right attitude and put the win three to the back of our minds. In training the players are looking sharp and we want to take that into the game.

Celtic’s last outing was a 1-0 defeat away to PSV Eindhoven in the Next Gen Series that ended their interest in the competition.

“We were a bit unfortunate in some matches but we let ourselves down in the Next Gen by giving away sloppy goal,” Kennedy added.

“That proved costly especially in the games against Aston Villa, it’s difficult chasing games against top opposition. These sides know how to put the ball in the net

“We are capable of scoring goals but have to make ourselves harder to beat, we always fancy ourselves to get among the goals.”
