Scottish Cup newsNeil Lennon is confident that Celtic will see of Arbroath at the second time of asking.

Ten days ago the Second Division side forced a draw at Celtic Park with the home side again failing to see off domestic opponents.

Celtic bounced back to beat Spartak Moscow to reach the last 16 of the Champions League but have to face the trip to Angus tomorrow to reach the same stage of the Scottish Cup.

“We just didn’t have the rub of the green,” Lennon claimed looking back at the visit from Arbroath.

“I felt we created a lot of chances, but we just didn’t maximise them. That’s what the Cup does sometimes. I will go strong. The players are playing well and they just want to keep playing.

“I haven’t played there before, so it will be a new experience. We’re taking the game very seriously. It’s a competition we have had recent success in and we would like to progress in it. It’s a very important game.”

Celtic will have Mikael Lustig and Paddy McCourt back from injury but Kris Commons remains on the casualty list.

Gary Hooper has been laid low by a virus but could be in the starting XI as Lennon looks to keep Celtic on route for a domestic treble.

He added: “The way things have been going in the last week to 10 days, you want to keep that feel-good factor going and this is potentially very dangerous.

“I have been on the end of a few cup upsets as a player and a manager and I don’t want that to happen tomorrow.”
