Fraser Forster can hardly believe how well his move to Celtic has gone.
After a summer of uncertainty he joined Celtic in a £2m deal following two seasons on loan.
Already this season he has been headline news across Spain, made the England international squad and earned the praise of goalkeeping icon Gigi Buffon.
In less than a month Forster and Buffon will be on the same pitch as Celtic host Juventus in the last 16 of the Champions League with Forster delighted by how the season has developed.
Out of all of those developments it was the praise of Buffon that caught the attention of the Celtic keeper.
“To have someone like him making comments about you is encouraging,” Forster admitted. “He’s been one of the world’s top keepers for so long, it will be great to play against him.
“He’s won everything, World Cups, the works. He’s been a fantastic keeper. He even pulls off wearing a hair clip!
“He’s not even that old, but it seems like he’s been around forever. He has been a great servant to Juventus and was someone I watched a lot when I was growing up.”
Two matches against Barcelona, where he defied Lionel Messi for 180 minutes, before conceeding in stoppage time at Celtic Park, put Forster on the map globally with the Spanish media highly impressed.
Forster added: “A couple of my mates sent me photographs, so it was nice. Some people in Spain seem to like me!
“It’s nice to get recognition when you’re doing well, but you can’t believe all the hype. That’s all in the past now. It’s about what we do from now on.
“Physically, I’m probably in the best shape since I came here and that’s probably helped my football as well.”
