Danny Wilson news

Hearts have swooped to take former Rangers defender Danny Wilson on loan from Liverpool.

Twenty four hours after having a transfer embargo lifted the Edinburgh side moved to bring Wilson back to the SPL.

Following a dozen games for Rangers in the 2010/11 season Wilson was dubbed the eighth wonder of the world and touted for a big money move down south.

Liverpool paid an undisclosed fee for the teenager but Wilson failed to make the grade at Anfield with a succession of managers failing to believe in the defender who continued to be selected by Craig Levein for Scotland squads.

During loan spells at Blackpool and Bristol City Wilson failed to make any impact but Hearts boss John McGlynn believes that  he can get his career back on track.

The Hearts boss said: “Danny is a quality player and someone we know a lot about.

Even at such a young age, he brings a lot of experience and not only will he be a very good addition to our squad, he will be a good influence on the young players we have here.

He has been playing regularly down south so fitness won’t be a problem, and hopefully it won’t be long before we see him in a Hearts shirt.”

Despite McGlyyn’s comments Wilson has been out in the cold at Bristol City making just one substitute appearance since moving to the Championship side in November.

Brendan Rodgers has shown a greater willingness than any previous Liverpool manager to gve  youth a chance but has made it clear to Wilson that he has no future with Liverpool.

Maybe that’s why so many Liverpool managers have failed when they cannot see the qualities in this kid which were so obvious to the Scottish MSM (tongue firmly in cheek for avoidance of doubt).
Wonder if Perry, and Sevcos wonderkids will follow in the footsteps of Wilson, Ness and McCabe?
