Juventus lead cut down to 3 points

|

Juventus newsJuventus’ faltering form continued with a 1-1 draw away to Parma.

A free kick from Andre Pirlo gave the visitors the lead in the 52nd minute but Nicola Sansone deservedly equalised for Parma with 12 minutes left to play.

The draw leaves Juve just three points ahead of Lazio having gone into the new year eight points clear and looking certain to retain the scudetto.

Parma are sitting in mid-table and were well worth their point as Antonio Conte battles to address a mini crisis ahead of next Saturday’s home match with Udinese.

“We deserved to win considering everything we did today, but were playing against a tough side and give credit to Parma,” the Juve boss said afterwards. “We showed desire to dictate the game and not sit back.

“The season isn’t over yet, we must fight to the end and meet dangerous teams like Lazio and Milan.

“I must say that if last Sunday I was angry about the performance against Sampdoria, today I am happy with the opportunities we created.

“On some occasions we got the final pass wrong because we were a little frenetic. We always try to play constructive football and take risks, so it’s a shame we conceded that goal.”

Third placed Napoli are only five points behind Juve after winning 3-0 at home to Palermo.

In midweek Juventus beat AC Milan 2-1 after extra time to reach the semi-finals of the Italian Cup where they will meet Lazio.

Before facing Celtic in the Champions League Juve are at home to Fiorentina on February 9.
