Tom Rogic news

Johan Mjallby has confirmed that Tom Rogic is on his way to Celtic.

The midfielder has been training with the hoops in Marbella and will fly to Glasgow to complete a £500,000 transfer from Central Coast Mariners.

Rogic didn’t play in last night’s 2-1 win over Steaua Bucharest but has done enough to convince Neil Lennon that he can do a job for Celtic.

Mjallby said: “It is great news Tom is coming back with us and hopefully we will get the deal done. He has been really impressive in training and you can see he has real ability.

I’m sure Tom watched the games against Barcelona and realised playing for Celtic in the Champions League is second to none.

It is great for him, too, as Celtic is a team full of young talents who are looking to improve and have great careers. Celtic is a great place for Tom to start in European football.”

Georgios Samaras and Mo Bangura wereon target against Steaua as Celtic came back from going 1-0 down early in the first half.

Bangura was a £2m signing from AIK Stockholm 18 months ago but has failed to make the expected impact spending part of this season back on loan with the Swedish club.

Mjallby added: “It was a very good goal and he needed that boost. I hope he can kick on from here.

Maybe it has been hard on him with the high price tag when he joined, and his confidence has been quite low.”

Rogic will require a work permit to play in Scotland but that should be a formality for the 20-year-old who has four full caps.

Brilliant to add a young bhoy, who from the little I have seen, looks quality. I am sure Lenny and his crew will sprinkle him with their magic glitter and make him “Celtic class”. Now get big Victor extended!

Midfield needs a new spark of life , hopefully this guy can do us a turn , always good to bring in a new player at this stage to freshen the look of the team . Hope he gets the all clear for Saturday .

Watched clips of him on youtube & looks a very mobile & tall central midfielder who has an eye for a pass & a goal & also likes to run with the ball – almost a skippy wanyama? Would not be surprised if he has been signed as the kenyan fenian’s replacement tho hopefully not for at least a season or 2 but think big vic may be for the offski in the summer.

Be great if Mo could start to justify his price tag & having Stokes back will be like a new player the way he links with Hoops & Commons is almost telepathic.
