Lennon answers doom-mongers: What more can we do?

|

Neil Lennon newsNeil Lennon has highlighted his side’s achievements to answer the doom mongers who’ve been locked in depression since the liquidation of Rangers.

With a 19 point lead in the SPL alongside a fantastic run to the last 16 of the Champions League- beating Barcelona along the way- hoops fans have rarely had it so good.

Fraser Forster, Victor Wanyama and Gary Hooper are now known throughout the UK and beyond with no sign of the Armageddon forecast by SPL chief Neil Doncaster.

Celtic could clinch the SPL title next month with Lennon happy to answer head-on those that attempt to tarnish a championship winning season.

“We have proved all the doom-mongers wrong and there is a lot of negativity in this country, a lot of it, it is overwhelming sometimes,” the hoops boss stated. “Even when you are doing well….you are so far ahead and it is a one-horse race.

“I can’t do anything about it. The reality of my job is to win, develop the players, develop the team and keep it progressing.

“Why would it be a worry for me when we are 19 points clear? There is nothing I can do about that (fans stopping coming), do you want me to stop winning and let the gap close a little bit and make it more exciting?

“Bayern Munich are 15 points clear in their league, Man United are 12 points clear in their league so why is it just exclusive to us?”

Lennon added: “I don’t have a crystal ball and I don’t know what next season is going to bring so if crowds are down then we will do our best to bring them back.

“My motivation is to keep winning, keep improving the players and making the club better on and off the field.

“Although I don’t really have a lot to do with what goes on off the field, I can affect the squad, results, recruitment, development of players and that in itself is a huge challenge.

“I think we have come a long way since 2010 and I think that gets overlooked sometimes.

“We have huge assets at the club which we never had before, we are still in the last-16 of the Champions League and well clear in the league. so what more can we do?”

We must be at the forefront in challenging poverty in our area, it is our mission,Come on Celtic it’s time to do more for the needy in our society HH!

On the footballing side of things, not much more Lennon can do other than utilise his squad a bit more and promote more of the youth team. We should be using our development squad in both domestic cups as they don’t equate to success if we fail to lift the title.

Off the park, Celtic should be listening to their fans, doing more to attract fans back, families etc. More chance to meet the players, staff etc, open training sessions & such like.

We SHOULD be at the forefront of bringing back standing areas, reducing prices and seeking to have the ground controlled only by our own stewards. There is no real need for expensive Policing INSIDE the stadium.

Also I’d be looking to push fans to support the youth sides, especially when the first team are playing away from home – great value. They would benefit greatly from being in the lower tiers of Scottish Football with the proviso they cannot gain admission to the top level.

We still have a large number of squad fillers, these can be cut back to give us a stronger 1st choice of say 16 with the rest being made up of our best youths. Nothing any true Celtic fan likes to see than a highly talented youngster coming through. We have the talent, cut them loose Neil.

    • Agree mate especially the 2nd part, just when the club and support should be as one with the season were having a get the impression were miles apart the fans back the team but just don’t get the boardroom the shit statement Re. The green brigade was shocking if any Celtic fan is being harassed by the police coming to Celtic park the club should be falling over themselves to get it stopped but it just never came in that statement quite sad really HH

In any dispute, industrial or otherwise it is alwayswise and to your Advantage to refuse to have any Dialogue with people who have the dice loaded in their favour. The steering commitee that I assume the Green Brigade have in place must use the good offices of the many arbitary agencies attached to strathclyde police and other organisations. If ther is any audio or video evidence then there is the machinery there for you to pursue these bigots and nail them legally. Please use the same Laws that they use to prosecute us to prosecute them, what a joy and irony.A word of advice to theg.b.,less of the anti british sentiment and Pro IRA stuff would be welcome from a great number of my fellow Celtic supporters,Please bear in mind we are an inclusive club and not an exclusive one and not every Celtic supporter is of Irish origin or a Roman Catholic.I wish you well in your pursuit of these Anti Celtic scum and undemocratic racist Bastards.
