Lustig and Izaguire return to face Aberceen

|

Mikael Lustig newsMikel Lustig and Emilio Izaguirre return to the Celtic side to face Aberdeen today.

Lustig has been missing for over a month while Izaguirre missed out on last week’s 3-2 defeat at Ross County.

Kris Commons returns to the starting XI after being on the bench at Dingwall while the strike partnership of Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes is retained. Young striker Bahrudin Atajic is on the bench as is January signing Thomas Rogic.

In recent weeks Lennon has been chopping and changing his squad with the Celtic boss about to change that policy.

He said: “I have prioritised other games in the last two league games.

“Against Motherwell I had my eye on the St Mirren (William Hill Scottish Cup) quarter-final which I thought was a huge game for us in the context of the season.

“Obviously the Ross County game was a few days after the last-16 game in Turin.

“What you will see this weekend is a fresh Celtic team ready to go for the title.

“We have already improved on last season on the pitch and with the success we have had in Europe we have improved off the pitch, for me that is as important as anything else.”

Celtic go into today’s match with a 12 point lead over second placed Motherwell who beat Hibs 4-1 at home last night after being a goal down at half time to the Edinburgh side.

CELTIC: Forster; Lustig, Ambrose, Wilson, Izaguirre; Kayal, Mulgrew, Ledley, Commons; Hooper, Stokes.

SUBS: Zaluska, Rogic, Rogne, Atajic, McGeoch, Samaras

Baffling subs again….snatched a win at the death but after such a start we should have buried them instead fell away.

Central defence like marshmallow, Losing goals without any real pressure, midfield not dominating.

Full marks to players for fightback though, refused to accept even a draw…but we need that attitude for 90 mins.
