Regan defends President Ogilvie

|

Campbell Ogilvie Rangers newsStewart Regan has launched a strong defence of Campbell Ogilvie despite the role of the SFA President in the downfall of Rangers.

Ogilvie was an Ibrox director for five of the years during which the club were found guilty of failing to disclose payments made to players through the EBT scheme in their contracts lodged with the SFA and SPL.

The football club, which is now in liquidation, were fined £250,000 for those offences in midweek.

Ogilvie has cultivated a reputation for his skills as an administrator, as well as being a real top bloke and very nice guy, despite being a director with responsibilities to shareholders and an office holder of various SFA and SPL committees.

Most people would come to the conclusion that Ogilvie was either heavily involved in the non-disclosure or failing to do his duties as a director but Regan takes another view despite the facts about his president being laid bare in the Nimmo Smith report.

“Yes he was a director of the organisation but he was a director of an organisation effectively run and operated by one man,” Regan claimed.

“Campbell Ogilvie from the outset has been upfront, he’s been transparent, he’s put his cards on the table to the board and made it very clear what his role was.

“He was the only member of the old regime that put himself forward to be interviewed by Lord Nimmo Smith and that says a lot about Cambell Ogilvie as a person.”

Regan predictably, in a pre-recorded interview with Radio Scotland, expressed the wish that Scottish football can now move on and work together for the greater good.

Until Regan, Ogilvie and Neil Doncaster move on it’s highly unlikely that the Scottish game will move on with their lack of leadership and failure to apply the rules creating most of the unrest among supporters throughout the game.

Was in the pub tonight for regular get together with friends of all persuasions and consenscion was to lets get on with it, to wich i disagreed with this as i felt that there was no punishment for being found guilty of offencies committed.

All were agreed that The Rangers were fortunate to walk away unscathed as they wont be able to pay fine, hence they emerge as a new club. same baggage with no debt.Is this justice? confused

  • bhoy67 says:

Thank you for verifying that report,i thought I was hearing things,Reagan hasn`t obviously read the LNS report!his pal Ogilvie is singled out for special mention by LNS jeeez!!but unfortunately for them Neil Lennon was spot on “Guilty as Charged” what might be called an “inconvenient truth” 47 Million reasons why they should be reminded every day.

  • StarOfStein67 says:

I wonder why the rest of them never put themselves forward for that LNS interview.(Shitebags).The minute the verdict was announced the coward of the county SDM was straight out there issuing a statement, after the last 18 months under a rock David? Charlatan.Shitebag.

Regans defence of Ogilvie, well Stu I’m afraid it’s a case of not being able to see the woods for the trees in this instance.

Somehow I don’t think these lot in the Sfa grasp or comprehend the seriousness of all this and what is going on in the minds of the fans of most Scottish clubs right now with the lack of confidence and a serious lack of trust.

Do the honourable thing all of you’s and just resign, with immediate effect. (Charlatans&Shitebags)

if you take the 2 t’s out of stewart regan;s name and jumble them up then it read’s( we ar rangers)pity his middle name’s were’nt dan ruth, ruth then he could have added( thru and thru) to the faithful he will be gone by the end of the year FACT

  • jaztecc says:

the head of all supporters clubs should get there clubs to sign a petition asking for the removal of the current spl board with a threat of boycotting all games at hampden of cup and national games, its the only way, money talks

    • mark says:

Celtic should refuse tickets for the semi final. A big empty stadium for a SFA showcase game would be noticed and if they take a allocation we should boycott the dump. I will never set foot in there again final or not. HH

  • Kendo88 says:

Guys lets not waste our time discussing this sorry lot. We don’t belong here we are far too big and important. Time for timmy to go. Lawwell and Desmond need to get us out and let this rotten lot get on with their incompetence. HH

  • Kendo88 says:

Do we really want to play in this pathetic backwater anymore??? No no no!!! should be the resounding answer! And the very thought of ever playing those bigoted cheating zombies again repulses me!
We deserve the best so we all need to lobby our club to make it happen. KTF Bhoys and Ghirls

    • mark says:

We don’t need to lobby the club they want out as much as we do mate and I don’t think for a second that lawwell isn’t trying to get us out in-between banning Celtic supporters from Celtic park because he doesn’t like lateral movement or singing ‘certain ‘ songs HH

      • Kendo88 says:

Let’s hope so mate. Can only see a bright future elsewhere for us Celtic people. HH

    • eastside says:

The likes of Regan and Ogilvy have one goal, getting Rangers to the top as fast as possible. They don’t even hide this, they just spend their time trying to convince us to agree and go along with it! It’s definitely concerning for the foreseeable future of Scottish Football. The men running our game telling anyone who will listen that 1 Club in particular are more important than others they are competing against. They are oblivious to the fact that they shouldn’t be publically supporting the advancement of 1 Club. How can the people running the game be trusted to be impartial when they are telling us that Rangers 2012, a Club in the 4th tier, is NEEDED in the top tier. They are publically admitting that they are impartial ffs.

      • Kendo88 says:

Feck them mate they should no longer be our problem. The games a bogey!
Celtic football club / culture has no future here and as people of its culture we need to do whatever is necessary to safeguard our future. I am excitied about our next step. HH my Celtic friend

        • eastside says:

I can’t see an escape route anytime soon, in the meantime we are forced to play in a corrupt League where those running it specifically state in public that the advancement and well being of one Club is essential.

How can they be trusted to be impartial when future issues arise surrounding that Club when they openly support the myth that the Club in question is deserving of preferential treatment. We are stuck here for the foreseeable future watching favoritism, bias and fear dictate how and when rules and regulations are to be administered.

  • jaztecc says:

regan says rankers in the top league would only be good for footballing game with all there fans, would he say the same for hitler and his adoring clone’s….probably..he has to go and go soon..fans unite..have a st patricks day weekend of banners ousting this mug

  • That they can do what they want make me sick Only men in black are able to do what they want in Scotland still and get away with in

  • davie bhoy says:

This might sound a bit radical but i think we need to change the whole set-up thats in place just now, removing individuals like Ogilvie,Regan and Doncaster is all fine and well but their is a system in place call it masonry or whatever thats goal is to make CERTAIN there will be like-minded people that replace them and were back to square one, different faces but same hun agenda.

Look back in history from refs in 60s n 70s who wouldn’t use the towels at CP cause they were green nae sthit BTW,then people like Farry who carried out the hun agenda with relish, then we have Dallas n McDonald to name two,we get rid of them, next step forward next generation of hun refs take a bow Collum n Norris.

The point am trying to make is focusing on the individuals is futile as they will be replaced by undercover huns with the same hun agenda.

Seen other fans talking bout a SPL elected fans rep to have hands on involvement, that sounds good to me,another idea wuold be a independent body like a fans commision made up of elected members of SPL clubs supporters associations that will have an equal voice in running scottish football alongside s.f.a and s.p.l.

If we the fans s.p.l. wide dont get a voice after this fiasco were FUCKED bhoys and ghirls,i believe we have a chance here we need to stick together and involve other like minded spl fans which is what i plan on doing now.

Remember tellin ma dad back in the 90s how worried i was when celtic were teetering at the edge of administration, will never forget it he just looked at me said “dont worry son whatever happens there will always be a CELTIC” he had the faith and was absolutely convinced that celtic would come back some how, how write he was.

They will never break us,come on let us take this chance to wrestle back some power to the most important people in football us the FANS HH

I’m sure as they lay down and kiss each other goodnight tonight, they will reflect and be proud of a mission well accomplished together.

  • williebhoy says:

This was an SPL led commission, so it is now up to the SPL clubs to accept or push the SFA to backup their neutrality despite defending the accused in a sporting court. If SPL clubs decide to back off then we should be informed exactly which clubs are prepared to accept this disgraceful situation.

While I am certain Celtic make millions from games v Rangers, the current 3rd division mob is miles away from being genuine challengers. If this lot were in the SPL they would be fighting with Hearts / Dundee for the bottom places and gates would be way below 20,000. Celtic and every other club in Scotland MUST realise fans will turn their backs in droves NEVER to return if we can see cheating being simply glossed over.

Any minor club that has been ejected / fined due to registration problems should be taking the SFA to CAS to claim compensation for wrongful actions placed on them. I doubt that Spartans will though, as they are clinging to the hope of an invite in the near future.

Call them out SPL, Celtic have already shown the way with their statement. When this SPL meeting takes place, we MUST stand up and be counted or put forward our intention to resign and those left behind can suffer the consequences from their own support. A league without Celtic is completely worthless. We should discuss a new setup as we did with the SPL but this time without the SFA but a new ruling body or else a complete clean break and apply elsewhere ala Ukraine / Russia proposals which is going to happen soon anyway.

  • davie bhoy says:

    When is the spl meeting?
