David Longmuir newsDavid Longmuir is becoming increasingly isolated after the SFL quickly turned down the SFA’s offer to broker a reconstruction peace deal.

Hamilton Accies will host a meeting of First Division clubs today as they attempt to find a way of reviving some of the plans bombed out by St Mirren and Ross County.

Any deal must be arranged between the SPL and SFL prompting the SFA to offer it’s service- an offer promptly rejected by Longmuir yesterday in an SFL statement.

It read: “The board of the Scottish Football League wishes to convey its thanks to the governing body for its offer of assistance at this time.

“We are, however, currently working with SFL clubs in all divisions with a view to agreeing an alternative way forward which builds on the five core principles.

“We would like to confirm our continued commitment to those principles. We are also very keen to share our proposals with the SPL and the SFA as soon as practical.

“We therefore respectfully wish to ask the SFA to work with us at this time, whilst we progress our proposals.”

Longmuir’s dismissal is likely to harden attitudes at the First Division get together with full-time SFL clubs the main beneficiary of any unified league set up.

Hamilton chairman Les Gray said: “I think the wording of the statement could have been better. I think there are good intentions there.”

Turnbull Hutton of Raith Rovers added: “If there was any possible chance of anything happening in the 59th minute of the 11th hour that could move this forward for the benefit of Scottish football, we should take that.”

before anything gets sorted they have to deal with trifc or lock them in devision 3 untiol all court cases etc are resolved ,then work on leagues

  • Jimbo102 says:

When Longmuir said in his interview to a journalist (by the way he was loosing his cool at this point) ” What do YOU think SPL2 is?) this was a clear indication that the majority of clubs in the SFL wanted change. Add to this his refusal to accept help from the SFA and only one conclusion can be arrived at. His strings are being pulled by sevco.
The SPL and the 1st Div clubs need to grow some balls now and just go for SPL1&2. Do not invite sevco in and do not parachute money down. The time has come to put the bullshit to one side and act.
    Hail hail

Im a Celtic fan, and you my friend are totally paranoid, longmuir strings arent being pulled by Rangers. We need to get together as fans and put the best product on the table, locking Rangers in div 3 wont do this, we have a game that could win us a tittle at the weekend and its not even a sell out, wake up and smell the roses. There are far too many Celtic and Rangers fans living in the past, there whole world revolves around bigotry, paranoia and conspiracy theories. The sooner you all jog on the better, that will leave the game in the hands of fans who love football for the beautiful game it is.

      • OZ CELT aka Davie Bhoy says:

COL Newman in your opinion do you think Celtic F.C/staff/players and fans both past and present have been treated fairly by Scottish fottballs various governing bodies?

      • Jimbo102 says:

Firstly, starting your reply with “I am a Celtic fan” makes me wonder????
Secondly, paranoia is basing your opinions on unfounded fictional elements. I my friend, are basing my opinions on FACTUAL statements made by all parties involved including our club Celtic.
I think you my friend are living in some sort of fantasy land. I have been attending at Celtic park since 1964 and can tell you in all honestly if we never play sevco again it would not mean 1 iota to me, but to people like yourself maybe you need the bigotry back to fulfil some sort of “edge” that you miss from today’s game.
Think on this, many of our supporters were branded “paranoid” over the passed 20 years for suggesting Rangers were financially doping to gain advantage, and guess what THEY WERE CORRECT.
        Hail hail

      • Thomas says:

Col, rubbish, what everyone has to deal with is RFC are finished, they may survive the coming 2nd Administration but they will take minimum 10 years to be anywhere near winning SPL, they are totalled!
So lets deal with what we have, stride on and as teams die off, sorry thats the way its gonny be, too many teams here, walk on!

  • Andybhoy says:

What amazes me is that guys like Longmuir, Regan, Doncaster and Ogilvie expect fans to trust them with league reconstruction when they don’t even trust one another.

Maybe if they had shown some integrity by dealing with Sevco in an appropriate, transparent and honest manner then people would not be so suspicious of their motives. The fact is they didn’t and they all got to see first hand just how untrustworthy the other was, as did we.

The only way this thing will move forward is if they all stop clinging to their positions and resign. If the old boys network that has governed Scottish football is dismantled and consigned to history then maybe some sanity can be brought to our game.

    Hail Hail.

It’s really hard to tell who’s the dodgiest out of this bunch.

As Inspector Clouseau used to say: “I suspect no one, yet I suspect everyone”.

as a celtic shareholder since 1995,(feb) i am not in favour of celtic fc helping any clubs that come under the banner of the S F A, S F L OR EVEN THE S P L, FOR THAT MATTER,I put my money into celtic fc to help celtic fc, and our fans, all the rest of the cheap scottish people who cannot support their teams & do not want to put their money where their mouths are would do well to realise that celtic fc and most notably P.L. WERE TRYING TO HELP SCOTTISH FOOTBALL BY DONATING THE S P L PRIZE MONEY FOR THIS SEASON,gilmour, the highland rogue, and some other chairmen are very, very, very JEALOUS OF CELTICS’ CHAMPION LEAGUE CASH THIS SEASON,this really boils the boyle’s on their asses, too bad if some of them have to go down the tube ( dunf fc hearts fc etc etc) then that is just to bad, thats life guys vaya condios adios amigos, there are to many clubs in dire straits AND THEY ARE NOT WORTH HELPING OUT,TIME TO LOOK AFTER OURSELVES AND FECK THE REST,AND I MEAN THAT MOST SINCERELY, 12- 12- 18 WAS AND STILL IS A GOOD DEAL FOR ALL THOSE CLUBS SEEKINK A HANDOUT FROM CELTIC FCs big pocket book,

    • Jimbo102 says:

Couldn’t agree with you more. We’ve gave concessions on money and voting structure, it’s been refused. Feck them.
      Hail hail

    • Col Newman says:

And who are we planning on playing? Cause I find watching football with no opposition a tad boring. Until all the fans from all the clubs get together and force a product we want, then the crowds will continue to fall and Scottish football will continue its long slow death.

      • Jimbo102 says:

Short answer: whoever is put in front if us.
You’ve raised an unarguable issue in falling crowds. For some I agree it may be because they are not happy with the product in some games. I would suggest though that the majority of stay aways is down to purely financial reasons. The price for “lesser” games is too high and the ordinary working guys finances are being squeezed to the limit.
Low crowds at lesser games is not a new phenomenon even when prices for games were at a reasonable level.
The club should be able to identify these “lesser” games and adjust pricing accordingly e.g £15 adult £5 Kids I know it’s fantasy but a probable stick on for full stadium.
Can fans force change?? I’m not sure only power can and the fans are sadly missing from any of the governing bodies.
        Hail hail

        • Col Newman says:

Good point, I also feel prices are too high, there is so much to do with disposable income these days, I fear that by the time clubs realise this it will be too late, for me, I think it’s only when football is on its knees that things will sort themselves out ie, players wages at a realistic level and gate fees that dont break the bank

    What a bunch of plonkers!
As if the world of football isn’t laughing hard enough at the Scottish system right now, they excell themselves by making such idiots of their abilities and total lack of brainpower by banning Lennon for what amounts to a verbal exchange between two people. can you imagine how the English are looking at how bad we look?
can you imagine how every country in world football are seeing us?
The problem when you have idiots running organizations is that they are only ever going to take you in one direction. Down. There has to be something somewhere where these people can all be removed legally. they are unfit for positions of power. To think thesewere the same people who deemed that Craig Whyte was unfit to be a director! Really? Compared to them the guy is a genius. Victimization of Lennon and Celtic is nothing new, but when you make a fool of yourselves so openly as these retards just have, Craig Whyte actually looks good. When clowns like those running our organization make decisions like trhe one on Lennon they look so dumb, petty, incompetent, and worst thing is they can’t even retract it because they don’t have a pair!

I can understand some of you guys missing the old firm thing and the buz. Let’s all move on now to a bright new glorious European era. The Huns are finished and goods riddance to their cheating ways and scumbag fans. Hh
