Rab Douglas Dundee news

Former Celtic keeper Rab Douglas is considering taking legal action against Dundee boss John Brown.

The two men fell out spectacularly shortly after Brown took charge of the club but the rift appeared to be sorted when Douglas appeared at the final home match of the season to wave good-bye to the Dundee fans.

That fragile peace was blown apart last week when Douglas gave his side of the story which prompted Brown to phone the Daily Record to give his version.

Brown was highly critical of how Douglas acted during the stand off with his straight talking style appearing to have crossed some boundaries prompting the threat of legal action from the keeper.

Douglas started last season as first choice keeper for Dundee but failed to make a single appearance following the arrival of Steve Simonsen on loan.

Reports of the fall out between Brown and Douglas grew arms and legs but neither party would comment on the rift as Dundee attempted to avoid relegation.

With relegation confirmed it was no surprise that Douglas, one of the top earners at Dens Park, was released with Brown keen to stamp his authority on the club while reducing the wage bill.

Douglas, who made 300 appearances in two spells with Dundee, is keen to continue playing with a number of First Division clubs interested in signing the experienced keeper.

Brown’s brief spell in charge of Dundee hasn’t been short of controversy including a threat to walk away from the club if he was disciplined by the SFA  after criticising referee Alan Muir’s display in the game that saw Dundee relegated after a 1-1 draw at home to Aberdeen.
