David Longmuir newsBungling SFL chief David Longmuir is in line for a £100,000 mystery bonus before the end of the month.

Details of the deal came to light last week as the finishing touches were put to the deal to establish the SPFL out of the SPL and SFL.

While due diligence was carried out on the accounts of both organisations the SFL clubs present were shocked to discover Longmuir’s bonus.

Queen of the South won the Second Division title last season on a playing budget of £350,000 with every penny a prisoner in the lower reaches of Scottish football.

Longmuir’s reputation has fallen apart over the last year with the ultimate humiliation- losing out to Neil Doncaster as CE of the SPFL- almost a formality after his secret payout was uncovered.

Following the discovery SFL vice chairman and Alloa director Ewan Cameron told the Daily Record: “In my time in the management committee and as a recent board member I have never seen a bonus payment go through the books.

“I heard this bonus payment mentioned for the first time in that room with four or five top SPL guys like Eric Riley. I’m led to believe a bonus entitlement historically has been a matter between chief executive and president but I was in the room as vice-president and it’s the first I’d heard of it.

“The SPFL baulked at the figure. It’s difficult to comment on something which was sprung on me in a crowded room. Myself and the other board members, Anne McKeown and Ken Ferguson, knew nothing of it but Jim (SFL President Jim Ballantyne of Airdrie Utd) seemed to know.”

In order to get the SPFL deal through it has been agreed that Longmuir’s bonus will be paid with £100,000 disappearing out the door as lower division clubs indulge in the annual round of cost cutting.

Longmuir’s bonus payment is £5,000 more than the EBT loan given to SFA President Campbell Ogilvie from Rangers.

Perhaps an £100,000 bonus for services to sevco? It certainly wasn’t for services to Scottish football.

Maybe Mr Longmuir would like to donate his bonus to charity- as he knows he did FA to deserve it. Of course he wouldn’t; he’s one of the brassneck brotherhood.

The hand brigade are in it for themselves, look after themselves and to hell with the country, they have always been “self” serving.

Its the hand brigade that has kept this country back with their behind your back deals, secret meetings, 5 way agreements and keeping Timmy in his place.

Fools, Clowns and cheats the lots of them

You know what…? Nothing surprises me any more when it comes to these money grabbing incompetents.
I confess, just knowing Longmuir’s “Govan Club” affections , that I can’t stand this weasel…
But this just clarifies for me…all that is wrong with the game in this country….
There are a lot of hard working decent people on these Boards….but for the elite few…It’s an “Old Boys Club”…and this bonus just confirms it.
    And you know what else…..?
Maybe we, the fans, deserve all we get….’Cos we allow these leeches to survive.

Any truth in the rumour he’s being presented his cheque at a bus terminal in Inchinan?

  • Andybhoy says:

Secret bonuses, secret meetings, secret agreements, total disregard for the rules and regulations, questionable decisions with even more questionable explanations, wrongdoers being allowed to investigate and clear themselves of guilt and a closed shop culture of greedy, immoral, irresponsible, self serving suits who seem to be able to act with impunity.

This is Scottish football under the guidance of Ogilvie, Longmuir, Doncaster, Regan and their little cabal. This lot are too busy stuffing their pockets with as much cash as they can grab and fixing problems for their friends to even care about what’s in the best interests of the game yet they are somehow allowed to carry on regardless.

What exactly will it take for UEFA to get involved? Or would that be too much like the pot calling the kettle black?

Couln’t have put it any better Andybhoy. Masonic and OO written all over every inch of blatantly corrupt corridors of power in Scottish football. It will never change.

  • Joe says:

    and the corruption continues………………….

At least Longmuir is Scottish! Personally, I think Longmuir has done a good job in challenging circumstances and seems to engage more with fans than Doncaster. Also what about the huge salaries Doncaster and Regan are paid?! Football is a corrupt business. Always has been/always will be. The bonus was written into his contract. It’s obvious he has been set up and the job is already signed and sealed!
