Bangura: I’ve no idea what to do

Mo Bangura newsMo Bangura has no idea if he’ll play against Celtic on Wednesday.

The on-loan striker has been the star attraction since the draw was made ten days ago that paired the Swedish and Scottish champions together.

A place in the final qualifying round of the Champions League awaits the victors but it looks like a lose-lose situation for Bangura.

It’s hard to imagine the red carpet waiting for him at Lennoxtown if he has any part in Celtic’s European exit while Elfsborg are’t going to be thrilled if their loan star opts out of their biggest matches of the season.

“There is so much pressure on me right now,” Bangura told Swedish ewspaper Aftonbladet. “I am going to have to sleep over it.

“It is hard for me, but I just have to get on with it. I really don’t know what to do to be honest, but I have not spoken to Neil Lennon.

“Elfsborg pay my wages, but Celtic are my club so I don’t know what to do. I don’t know who will make the decision.

“I understand the point of view of Neil Lennon, who does not want one of his own players playing against him. He has to find a way to win the game and that is what football is all about.

“For me, if I don’t play, I don’t know what I am going to face at Elfsborg. I could feel dead. I don’t know how my career is going to be and I just ask for God’s help.”

Lennon watched Bangura miss a penalty yesterday as Elfsborg drew 1-1 away to Atvidaberg, a result that leaves them in fifth place, six points behind leaders Helsingborgs who have a game in hand.

“Bangura: I’ve no idea what to do”

    Nothing new there then

  • Jhimmy T jnr. says:

Sounds like to me that Celtic made the mistake by not including it in the contract – how that happened I’ll never know, however Bangura’s got a career to pursue and its unfair to put the pressure on him – either way he’s a loser to one set of fans.

Let the bhoy play…he would be in the Hoops if Lennon and co. thought that much of him anyway.

This mob are well here for the taking by the sounds of things and their league position already – this should be a formality imo, considering there is another qualifier after this and we have group stage ambitions.

    • France Hughes says:

Cross border contracts are not allowed clauses to prevent players playing against there parent club . Only loan deals within the same association can include that clause . That’s why it wasn’t included in this case so no oversight

  • OZ CELT aka Davie Bhoy says:

Genuinely feel sorry for the guy, he didn’t get many chances at CP and now he is literally between a rock and …….
Sounds like its mental torture for the guy

  • Mharkopolo says:

i feel bad for the guy. for once, i dont agree with the way lennon dealt with him. i think in lennons mind he was just speaking honestly, but it sounds like he’s put bangura under a lot of stress. whatever happens he shouldn’t be slated for playing/ not playing cos it isnt his fault, its the loan system’s fault for not having clear rules or guidelines.

  • Mickey Man says:

Let him play, it’s unfair to the guy to put him in this position.
I don’t get it. We all said he wasn’t good enough for the Hoops so we loaned him out, but now he is suddenly the biggest thread to the Hoops?
We should walk over Elfsborg anyway.

    HAIL HAIL

  • Althetim says:

The solution is simple. Sell Bangura to Elfsborg by Tuesday and there will be no problem with him playing on Wednesday. Ten bob should cover it.

  • goodybhoy says:

Nearly shed a tear there :'(

honestly do feel bad for the guy. I think he should just play, we’ll still be able to beat them and the Celtic support will get another good look at him to see if we can see what NL does.

  • vino says:

I reckon he should not play against Celtic, there is too much at stake.

  • The silver fhox says:

No pressure should have been put on Bangura. It is not fair on him and he has a career to pursue. He should be allowed to play as the is no arrangement to prevent him. Celtic have to go out and beat them – end of story.

  • Gerry says:

    Let the guy play. Jeezo.
Celtic showing lack of class here.

  • Pyewacket1888 says:

Wrong. He should not play in a competitive game against his parent club. Both clubs should see this. Its a massive conflict of interest. But it’s not the players fault. It’s the contracts fault. As someone has said there is no cross border restriction on loan deals… Well there bloody well should be. Hopefully it will be looked at by uefa after situations like this. Personally I don’t care if he plays. He never caught my eye in the first place. If it comes back to haunt us so be it. But I seriously doubt it. HH.
